Not that it makes the school’s decision any more acceptable, but Davidson College is a private university, not public.
As we all know, the media distorts and lies, sometimes lying by omission.
So, the article states that Chick Fil-A sandwiches will no longer be “served” at the events in question.
Was Chick Fil-A donating the sandwiches? They’re known to do that, the company is VERY generous that way. If they no longer want their free sandwiches, that’s good. Chick Fil-A will find a different group to donate. If they actually did purchase the sandwiches to be “served” (and for some reason, I doubt that), the addition of this family’s now frequent trips to Chick Fil-A more than makes up for that loss.
He did no such thing. He spoke out in support of traditional marriage, which is patently not the same thing.
No we need to change that message. We need to start calling it what it really is...
this is Religious persecution.
An unknown bit of trivia...
Elvis’ last word was “corn?”
We need to state that fact loudly and bluntly and fearlessly whenever anyone brings up something negative about CFA.
Anti-CFA sentiment is simply a proxy for anti-Christian bigotry.
More blatant anti-Christian bigotry = higher turnout on Nov 6
OK, I went and googled Davidson College. I was shocked to find that they are a Religous College. From their interwebs site:
“Religious Life
Welcome! Religious life at Davidson College is celebrated on the affirmation that we are all created in the image of God, brothers and sisters in the human family, whatever our creed, heritage or beliefs.
As a Presbyterian church-related college, Davidson values the life of the spirit and fosters openness to and respect for the world’s various faith traditions.
With many religious resources and organizations on campus, we seek to be a community where everyone may grow spiritually through worship, fellowship, service, and study.
Peace be with you.
The Rev. Rob Spach, College Chaplain”
More like:
Christian values do not reflect Davidson College’s values.
But does it get federal dollars?
Pull your kids from the college and if you are a graduate then quit donating to the place.
It's a PCUSA affiliated school. So this isn't surprising.
Yup. That’s what I would do. This kind of university-sponsored hate must not be supported with our dollars.
Actually, that makes the school's decision entirely more acceptable. Chick-fil-A has the right to express its opinion, and customers have the right to vote with their wallets and decide whether or not to eat there. Davidson College, as a private university, has the right to (a) express its opinion about Chick-fil-A and (b) decide whether to spend its money at Chick-fil-A; likewise, students and prospective students have the right to vote with their wallets and decide whether or not to attend school there.
Twin sisters from my church graduated from Davidson. I wonder if they’re proud of their alma mater?
From Davidson’s website regarding their “religious heritage” -
What is the Presidential Qualification Bylaw?
The Bylaws of the Trustees of Davidson College state, The trustees shall elect a President of the College who shall serve as the chief executive officer of the college. They shall elect only a person who is a loyal and active church member, whose life provides evidence of strong Christian faith and commitment. Such faith and commitment will be appropriately expressed by affiliation with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and active participation in the life of Davidson College Presbyterian Church.

That explains everything. They're right up there with Jeremiah Wright's church, about as Marxist as they come.
Davidson College: we’re so openminded we tolerate no dissent!
I graduated from Davidson and the story on this is somewhat misleading. To say that Davidson banned or suspended Chick-fil-A is an overstatement. It was a student organization.

An item on Tuesdays Local & State front about Davidson College was unclear about the organization that decided to suspend Chick-fil-A from student events. The Davidson College Union Board, which is solely student-based, made the decision.
