DHS Orders 750 Million More Rounds Of Ammo
The Alt-Market.com ^ | 13 August, 2012 | various

The federal government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security, is buying up huge amounts of ammunition and there seems to be no end in sight. Again, this is nothing new as the DHS has refused to explain their purchase of 450 million hollow points and has ordered "up to" 650-750 million rounds of ammo and also seems to be looking for more weapons as well.

And the ammo is broken down by year for procurement. Interesting is the 7.62X39, didn’t know FLETC used that particular round. Maybe part of the ammo allottment for the ATF’s gun running ops in Mexico. Looks like the cost of all ammo will be going up.

Wow. I want to go play where they get to play!

Not to worry, doubtless they will bring where they play to where you are.

Agreed.

If they store it in Fort Knox, at least they’ll be telling the truth there’s precious metals in there. I’m really not joking.

“They’re looking for a little of everything, from .223 to .30-’06, 12GA, various pistol rounds.

A nice example of government waste.... It would be cheaper if all government agencies that carried arms used the same caliber.

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” Barack Hussein Obama, 7/2/2008

They don’t call it a Civil Defense force, that would imply we need (or perhaps deserve) defense.

The official name is National Civilian Community Corps.

I think of it as the NATCCC, or simply the NATCs...

Can’t use hollow points in war, its against the Geneva Convention. Aparently the Homeland Security does not need to follow the Geneva Convention when killing American Citizens.

Thats four or five rounds for every man woman and child alive today in America. Looks like the National Socialists are back.

Like most government employees they are completely inept at any task other than padding their little corner of the world.

When the Thomas Jefferson moment arrives, they will need the ability to just spray as much lead as possible as their shooting scores are lower than their low double digit IQs.

Bingo. Drive up the price and cause shortages to keep us from getting it.

What is normally required?

There are 180,000 employees and 200,000 contractors (Source:). About 2,500 rounds per, for their 400,000 person army if the entire contract is fulfilled, I think.

700 lbs of RDX, half a ton of ammonium nitrate, 750 million rnds of ammo...

@Don't forget the Prima Sheet

To my surprise a solicitation for a flexible explosive was posted. This explosive is known as Prima Sheet.

Another indirect message that the serfs better shut up, not look up and bend their backs to their tasks and leave the royals be.

The calibers required is addressed in the paperwork further down. Some of this goes to FLETC, but the supplier is also required to ship to other locations. What it looks like is a open-ended ‘shell’ type contract that allows agencies to order from it rather than go through a separate procedure to let a departmental contract. As long as the ordering agencies don’t exceed the number for their caliber that the contract enumerates they are good to go. It also looks like that the total number of rounds/caliber is going to be broke down monthly/year of the contract. So the supplier won’t be required to deliver if an agency exceeds the quantity authorized for a particular month.

Most of the .357 Sig is for the TSA. I was unaware that TSA was armed at all, let alone armed with that round.

This is a lot of ammo across a lot of calibers.

Someone mentioned that they saw 7.62X39. Could this be a hidden purchase for the State Department, for a foreign affair/as well?

Looking at the actual contract, this is for bids to supply UP TO the contracted amount of specified ammo, at the submitted bid price, over the 5-year duration of the contract. There is no requirement that the government buy the whole amount, and they may just purchase a thousand rounds at a time.

If it’s a war on citizens they want, they just may get it. How many people do you know outside of government that adore the DHS?

That’s what I thought.

Well these pistoleros have that padding business down pat

Consider them semi-mobile supply centers for comms gear, colorful patches, badgers, paperwork, spares, vehicles, etc, and if you're really lucky a source of hi-carb hi-sugar snacks.
