One more time: FR's God-given Life & Liberty constitutional conservative activism agenda!!
Aug 12, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/12/2012 6:47:17 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Seems I have to re-post this from time-to-time as a reminder:

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our BORDERS, our constitution, our liberty and our national sovereignty.

Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income, thank you very much. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity and we are beholden to none. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our loyal readers and participants who enjoy our forum and think its a worthwhile endeavor.

We aggressively enjoy and defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and FREEDOM of ASSOCIATION, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal/progressive trolls, RINOS and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is NOT a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our GOD-GIVEN rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of Life.

Our God-given freedoms are not negotiable and not subject to debate!!

For God, Family, Country, Life and Liberty!!

If you cannot live with the above, fine, but keep your mouth shut about it while on FR. Don't fight against us on ANY of our deeply held beliefs!!

DON'T TREAD ON ME!!

Yeah, I saw that after I hit the Post button.

I must admit though, I’m still a bit confused. I’m not sure that his response to you actually answered your original question. In a historical context he did, but the response was still incomplete as to the future tolerance of dissent.

Then again, as one of those (Obama hating) “Romney People” (ugh), I must be a little slow on the uptake.

I don’t understand why there is such an issue. Then again... I usually come and read the side bar and look at particular stories that are of interest to me to get the opinions of some Freepers.

Must everyone agree with everything, or are people who agree with MOST welcome here as long as they don’t harass other people?

I will vote for Romney/Ryan. Won’t do a bit of good in the state I’m in. I did help get a conservative Congressman and Senator.

I respect you for setting up the site and you have been kind. I just don’t understand why there is an issue now and what EXACTLY you want people to do?

I have donated as well.

(Although...everyone hates it when a poster brings THAT up.)

IMO - this is NOT a time to be ripping each other apart. Live and let vote and let’s HOPE that we get on the upswing and don’t see four more years of Obama unchecked.

Romney did the right thing.
I do not have time to worry about his motives.

If he wants to act like a Conservative, that beats the Heck out of Obama, who wants to act like a Communist!

Needs to be on the Front Page every one sees when they access FR. I am tired of having my Christian beliefs questioned and being accused of HATE, because I won’t support the RINO Myth. Nor do I drink the GOPe koolaide, but think for myself and examine their records. And Myth STINKS of liberalism, socialism and support of much the Bible stands against.

I have to answer to GOD first.

I agree romney did the right thing. The reason is,I think, was to have a chance at winning against the most corrupt, American way of life hating muzzy, president since commie carter.

Hell, you could even believe that Romney won’t be held to conservative principles, and still vote for him while holding the principles of FR. Voting is a compromise, and making a decision about how to act in the real world is driven by your principles, but doesn’t ensure that results match your principles.

Then you have the problem where there are reasonable disagreements on whether a particular candidate does, or does not, reflect the principles that we believe in. It would be absurd for someone to argue here that we should support a liberal pro-abortion candidate. But you might argue that we should support a “pro-life” candidate who isn’t that pure on the pro-life issue, like they might not be willing to eliminate the rape/incest exception.

Or worse, a candidate might talk the talk, and then the argument is simply whether you believe them or not. Belief is not a conservative principle. It’s a personal decision.

So if a candidate has a good platform, a conservative can choose to trust the candidate, another conservative will choose NOT to trust the candidate. That doesn’t make the first guy a liberal, since he is supporting the conservative platform. And it doesn’t make the second guy a liberal, because he’s not rejecting the conservative platform, he’s rejecting the man who he doesn’t trust to implement the platform.

That is where most of the fights at FR end up — with two conservatives arguing NOT over what the goal is, but over which candidate can be trusted to implement the goal, and can actually get elected to do so.

I will vote for Romney in the general election, because we are way past the “trust” question. I don’t vote to send messages, I vote based on the better outcome, and I believe that conservative principles will be better served with a republican president than with Obama. If Romney ends up governing as conservatively as his platform, that will be an added bonus. I wish we had a solid conservative, but that’s what the primary was for.

“The way I see it is we have 2 choices Romney or obama. I honestly dont think our Country can stand 4 more years of Mr Executive Order.”

Yeah, Romney wasn’t my first choice either. Or second. Or third. But the reality facing us is that electing Romney is THE only way to oust The Great Destroyer. Since my focus has been, and shall continue to be, ousting President Hussein, I’ll be voting for Romney.

If others chose to focus on tilting at windmills, then so be it, as there’s nothing I can do about that. I do, however, pray that some will come to their senses and help to try and save our country, at least for a tiny bit longer.

I think you need to stick “THIS IS NOT A GOP WEBSITE” in there somewhere. :) I was a Republican from the age of 18 until they nominated McCain. Now I’m a CONSERVATIVE.

I don’t know how you can take all the filth being spewed at you for exercising your right to free speech and to your own vote.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for not caving in to the pressure from the bullies.

I agree entirely, on all points, especially the "Not a GOP website" one, but I'll admit I have personal reasons for liking that idea. Jim, thank you for having some sense in the eye of the storm.

I’ve noticed one individual who keeps tattle telling on any of us whom support Ryan, in regards to your previous thread.

It's not nice to talk about people behind their back.

You're not supporting Ryan. You're supporting Romney, and here is the thread in which you and your pal were running down us Constitutional Conservative "purists" (JimRob included) because we refuse to drink your ABO hemlock.

Quite frankly, it's appalling that the ABO "realists" are now attacking Constitutional Conservatives on this site, even with Jim's repeated postings (like this one) because we won't jump into bed with Romney like you and the other ABO party-first "realists" have. The sneering at those of us who are sticking with our principles has now become endemic.

Perhaps it's time for you to find a Republican site to spew your pro-Romney blather.

And yeah, I'm going to call out those people who previously swore that they would never hold their noses again and vote for RINOs, but yet have now not only embraced Romney but are also now attacking those of us who won't.

Hi Jim,

You have the only open and honest “no spin” conservative site anyplace. Everywhere else is an effort to airbrush all of the real Romney so that all we are shown is at variance with a true current analysis and at variance with a true historical accounting.

Romney’s recent statements do not mitigate his past liberalism. Surprisingly, they strengthen his liberal credentials. He has recently come out in favor of gay couples, gay adoption, gun control, gay scouts, gay military, romneycare, and a tweaked, big government tax code. He has refused to address free speech and free religion as part of his campaign, but those other items were necessary to be addressed.

You will hear none of that in the quasi-conservative media that is opportunistically conservative at their convenience.

Free Republic is a necessary voice. For steadfast conservatives it is the only voice. For true ABO conservatives — those who truly do see themselves as between a rock and a hard place with a blatantly liberal candidate — it is an honest voice.
