Palin will not speak at Republican convention
WASHINGTON | Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:36pm EDT
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will not speak at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa later this month, she said in statement on Sunday.
"This year is a good opportunity for other voices to speak at the convention and I'm excited to hear them," Palin, who was Senator John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election, said in a statement on Gretawire, the blog of Fox News's Greta Van Susteren.

Sarah speaking at Romneys convention would be like Led Zeppelin opening for the Monkees. > Jimi Hendrix did open for the Monkees, more than once. It wasn't pretty.
Consider a difference, and a similarity:
- The Monkees were fans of Jimi Hendrix, and looked forward to his participation in the show. I doubt that Romney is a fan of Palin, and he doesn't want her to be part of his coronation show.
- The Monkees' teen-girl audience was scared by Hendrix -- he challenged them with sounds and images that were more than they could handle, and they rejected his rampant energy and bold sexuality. They wanted the sterile, safe Monkees. The GOPe audience at the convention would be similarly scared and challenged by Palin, and would reject her lightning energy and bold honesty. The GOPe wants the sterile, safe Mittens.
I think Palin is wise to avoid that pre-programmed trained-animal circus. It will have no new interest, no surprises, no lift beyond the week in which it ends. It's merely a ribbon-cutting ceremony. I don't plan to watch -- if I need to puke, I'd rather stick my finger down my throat. It's quicker and less demeaning.

She does not deserve to speak. Her nation called her and she refused. And so she must bear the ignominy of being a “has been.” This is right where the GOP planned to put her, and so our one saviour no longer exists.
Palins refusal to run for the GOP presidential nomination will later be seen as the mistake that ruined her political career.
The GOP still is so afraid of Palin that they will NOT allow her to speak, for fear that she could unseat Romney from the floor of the convention.
The third party option has just become REAL. And NECESSARY!
(Conservatives are to be USED and ABUSED, yet again.)
EFF the GOP. I hope it dies after losing the Nov. presidential election. The Tea Party will take up the banner of constitutional conservatism and take our nation back.

There has ALWAYS been bad blood between mitt and anyone that threatens his absolute power. I expect Sarah to do exactly as she said she will do. Unlike mitt... she is honest and forthright. I trust her... mitt... not so much.

That`s the great thing about opinions, we all have one :)

Well I was speaking strictly on Gov Palin, nothing to stop Paul from saying to Mitt (during peanut butter/honey sandwich), hey Mitt I really feel bad about my good friend Sarah being excluded from the convention, are you sure that`s a good idea?
He could say that
To: Friendofgeorge
Yes, he could do that... we will never know because mitt does not want her to speak.

That is what political conventions (at least of the demopublican persuasion) have become. Infomercials. As scripted as the WWE. And much like the WWE, the winner is known well in advance.

Good call. We don’t need reality TV celebrity family personalities speaking at the Convention. We need serious policy advocates. Thank you RNCC.
