Mitt Romney hugs Paul Ryan, but not budget
Politico ^ | Politico

Romney spokeswoman Sarah Pompei said Saturday that the candidate “applauds” Ryan’s ideas, but intends to issue his own blueprint for reshaping the federal budget. After Romney’s speech introducing Ryan, advisers said the former Massachusetts governor has no intention of being handcuffed to all the specifics of Ryan’s plans — though he has said in the past that he’d sign Ryan’s budget if passed by Congress.

“He has said it moves us in the right direction. He has said that if it’s sent to him, he would sign it. And he has said that he will put forward his own plan,” said one senior Romney adviser. “He is the presidential candidate.”

It’s not clear whether Romney will address his differences of opinion with Ryan, whatever they may be, in any depth between now and Nov. 6, or whether he’ll detail a debt-reduction proposal with the same degree of specificity as Ryan’s. Romney evidently hopes to benefit from Ryan’s brand as a fiscal warrior, without handing Democrats a gift-wrapped attack line to drive conservative-leaning senior citizens away from the GOP.

That may be easier said than done. Introducing Ryan in Norfolk, Va., Romney touted the Wisconsin lawmaker’s fiscal expertise and vowed that he’d protect entitlement programs as president. He called for “bold, specific and achievable” fiscal policies, but did not mention Ryan’s budget by name.

[RaisingCain:] What you’re saying is that Mitt Romney’s betrayal of the conservative movement and of the country, over and over again, doesn’t matter because Obama is also a traitor. Two negatives don’t make a positive, unless you’re in the GOPe.

No, what I clearly said is Obama is a COMMUNIST.

Obama, David Axelrod, and Valerie Jarrett were all raised by and mentored by card carrying Communists who all, coincidentally, knew each other and the three of them are busy carrying out the Communist plans taught to them by these mentors.

I also said, I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE HERE WOULD PUT POLITICS AHEAD OF THEIR COUNTRY.

ROTFLMAO!!! Before anymore declarations like these, I would suggest that you go look up Romney's old man, and what he was... What makes it so funny is that *you* are obviously putting politics ahead of country, in that you just accept Romney on face value, without doing your homework. One should at least be familiar with Romney's own record (which on it's own is horrendous in it's socialism), but lets just say the apple didn't fall far from the horse.

Republican Rose Colored Glasses

I fail to see how your socialist is any better than their communist. It's the very same dang thing.

Then you obviously don't know what a Leninist-Marxist is.

I have done my homework...on Obama. Perhaps you should try the same.

So basically Mittens has it both ways, while, at the same time, having it No Ways at all.

Right. I always depend on the Politico for Republican inside scoops. /sarc

Bub, you have NO idea as to how much blood, sweat, and tears I have put into my local TEA Party group and in backing Conservatives for state and local office.

I'm with Conservatives, you're with Romney. What's that say about you?

Romney does not hate this country. That will have to be good enough for now.

My only concern is getting Obama out of the White House.

It looks as though he can run for both and, so far at least, intends to. I say good.

Romney did say he had his own plan and he said it during the sixty minutes interview with Paul Ryan sitting next to him. He said it in response to Scheiffer’s question. It was a smart move. The rats and the media are going to try to make Ryan,s plan the issue and try to demonize them with it- which they’ve already started.

I saw the interview too and I thought they both did a good job.

Romney was not my first, second, or third choice but I will absolutely vote for him.

One thing that impressed me about the Ryan pick is that it shows he truly wants the job of being president and not just the title. It shows that fixing the economy truly is his issue.

Many conservatives have said for years that we should put someone in office with business experience and it looks like we just might get that this election.

Romney had a 50+ point plan in the primary, not the press is saying he needs a new plan or be forced to defend the Ryan plan?

Where is OBAMA's PLAN?

Then you obviously don't know what a Leninist-Marxist is.

I know EXACTLY what a marxist is. And a socialist. Upthread you said Romney was just a 'common liberal'... A common liberal IS a socialist, and they all bow to Marx and Rosseau. The only real difference is in the means of achieving the end... But it all winds up in Communism and always has, even before it was called communism.

I have done my homework...on Obama. Perhaps you should try the same.

That's easy enough to say... But replacing him with the very same thing and patting yourself on the back for it is hilarious.

ROMNEY: He's the kinder, gentler communist...

If one were honest with oneself, one would admit that battling against Obama with the guy that started it all in Massachusetts will not... cannot... bring the advertised salvation... Or even a different result. You will be hard pressed to find much that Obama has done that wasn't first accomplished by Romney in Mass.

IOW, you are voting *FOR* the same dang thing.

I'm not going to argue with you. You are welcome to vote for and support anyone you wish. If you don't mind having a communist in the white House then that is your choice.

I am merely stating a fact that there is every reason to believe that Obama is a communist. His mentor, Frank Marshall Davis was a communist and Obama himself said he searched out and “hung out with” Marxist professors at Oxidental. A fellow student said Obama was an avowed Marxist.

It is also a fact that the family/mentors of Axelrod and Jarrett were part of the communist party along with Frank Marshall Davis.

You say Romney is no different but that is completely dishonest. There is no reason to believe that Romney intends to take over businesses and put them under government control (General Motors), there is no reason to believe that Romney would dream up and act on anything like “Fast and Furious”, there is no reason to believe that Romney would run rough shod over our laws by bypassing congress the way Obama has. There is also no reason to think Romney would stab Israel in the back the way Obama will.

There is a BIG difference between the two and I'm afraid your, and others, refusal to see that difference will be the end of our country.

People also forget, Obama plans to unilaterally and massively reduce our nuclear arsenal, and God only knows what else of our national defense, once he “has more flexibility” in his second term.

Romney = philosophical threat

Obama = existential threat
