Tenn. Democrat Party urges voters to vote against their own nominee - works for pro-life group
NASHVILLE, August 7, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) The Democratic Party of Tennessee is taking the unusual step of urging citizens to vote against its own nominee for U.S. Senate, because he works for a pro-life organization it deems a hate group.
Mark Clayton won the partys primary by a two-to-one margin over his next closest competitor, Gary Gene Davis. Former NBC Empty Nest star Park Overall came in third. Clayton has long been active with Public Advocate, a national pro-life, pro-family organization.
Mark Clayton is associated with a known hate group in Washington, D.C., the Tennessee Democratic Party claimed in a statement, and the Tennessee Democratic Party disavows his candidacy, will not do anything to promote or support him in any way, and urges Democrats to write-in a candidate of their choice in November.

Mark Clayton great sin is that he supports the sanctity of HUMAN LIFE. That makes him ineligible to run for an office in the Democratic party.
From the article:
If Public Advocate is a hate group, then the state of Tennessee is a hate group, because its in our constitution that marriage is between a man and a woman, Clayton said.
Some in the GOP were doing the same when Rosanna Pulido was running for an Illinois house seat a few years ago. They didn’t like her pro border control stance so they were encouraging people to write in Abe Lincoln.
Sounds like the Tennessee Democrats have Democrat Tea Party going on down there.
Democrat Party; Conservatives not allowed to apply
Republican Party; Conservatives discouraged from applying
Public Advocate ... [listed as] anti-gay hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center
Maybe the Southern Poverty Law Center is a proud sponsor of the Southern Decadence Parade
On paper, Clayton sounds a lot better than the RINO Bob Corker.
I for one am not surprised in the least.
This guy sounds far more conservative than Corker! For the first time in my life I may vote for a Democrat.
Reid would not allow him to caucus with them.
Really now. This is not a whole lot different from the Republican Party's treatment of their 2010 nominees in New Jersey, Nevada and Alaska. In fact it is damn near the same. The parties expect party loyalty (above all else) and will not take much deviation from the party line. Especially a deviation to the right.
In all fairness she really had no shot of winning..
So the GOP behaved exactly like democrats for no reason other than they could.
The Rat Party has no need for God as long as they have abortion to worship.
That’s the dirty little secret they’re trying to keep hidden. For all the “Moderate” holier than thou lip flapping about compromise and electability, they themselves are the ones who don’t compromise with conservatives, ever.
Compromise is reserved for their friends on the left.
SPLC IS A HATE GROUP.
Why can’t our side set up groups like the ACLU, SPLC and deem their groups as hate groups, hell the left sets a group up, calls it a great name like huiman rights to fool people and then they go out and attack us whilst the media their liberal biasedmedia tries to tell the public that groups like human rights, SPLC, are legit groups,
I'm interested in the results.
I’m leaning towards Clayton.
However, even though the Democrats disavowed him, I expect they will try their hardest to pull him back into the fold.
I need to review the voting record and see just how Rino Corker is.
I wonder if Clayton is a “stealth Republican”.
RINO Bob Corker probably had the primary so locked up that no Tea Party candidate could challenge him. And since an independent (Republican) wouldn’t have a chance, Clayton’s only hope would be to win as a “Democrat conservative”.
Here is where it gets interesting. Clayton would need to have the help of the Tea Party and other conservative Republicans, but he cannot “change parties” until after the election. So *they* are the ones who must get the message out to “vote for the conservative Democrat instead of the RINO Republican”. Not an easy thing to do.
They would probably make some serious demands on him, that he state his intentions *in writing* before the election, but that they be sealed until after the election, and only used if he reneges.
For his part, he would need to stimulate the Democrat rank and file to vote for him, as they along with the Republican conservatives would put him over the top against liberal Republicans voting for Corker.
It’s not an easy strategy, but it might work.
This is funny.
The SPLC helping the Democrats lose seats because of their absurd “anti-gay hate group” list would be sweet justice.
Pulido was running in IL-05 (Rosti’s, Blago’s and Rahm’s old seat), right?
Stupid RINOs. As if running an open-borders liberal would win that seat for the GOP. And when did President Lincoln become a symbol of open borders with Mexico? Just because Lincoln opposed the U.S. invading Mexico doesn’t mean he would have supported Mexico invading the U.S.
