Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney should release more of his tax returns only after President Barack Obama makes public his college transcripts, real estate magnate Donald Trump said on CNBC.
A vocal Romney supporter who once toyed with a run at the top office himself, Trump took up the latest controversy over the president's background the circumstances under which Obama attended Columbia University.
"If I were Mitt Romney, and I'm not, I would say very simply, 'I will release my returns, which are 100 percent legit, everything's fine, if you release the information that we want,'" he said on"Squawk Box." Obama "spends $4 million trying to hide lots of different things that he's done, whether it's his passport records, his college applications and college record."

"If I were Romney I would do this: 'I will release my returns if you release the records that you've been trying to shield for the last four years,'" Trump said.
Romney critics have challenged his decision to release only the two most recent years of tax returns.
The Obama campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Woo-hoo!
Great to see Trump stepping back in.
Welcome sir.
Financial Aid
Foreign Student, etc
How bad do you want it, Mitt? Fight...and I don’t mean in the laughable fashion that McCain ‘fought’ (LOLOL) in 2008.
Which at this point in time is totally moot, other than for striking that part of the constitution. (Since the Kenyon has now set a precident.)
It is interesting following Donald’s tweets . . . he slams Obama on a daily basis, usually multiple times per day.
I’d like to finally see that Rashid Khalidi-Obama tape while we’re at it...
Maybe my tin-foil hat is on a bit too tight this morning, but, I am wondering if Mr. Trump is maneuvering to be the next Ross Perot.
This is way better than “tax returns.”
Basics like college transcripts and student loans are clear, simple and memorable. And Trump knows how to deliver it.
The Dems are dreaming if they think people care about the arcana of old tax returns.
> How bad do you want it, Mitt? Fight
I believe he is fighting.
He’s using Trump as a surrogate so Mitt doesn’t get his hands dirty with “negative campaigning”.
If so, Mitt is revealing himself to be more clever even than the demonically inspired 0bama.
As much as I destest Trump for being a huckster looking out only for his own egotistical interests, I do gotta admire him for his honesty and guts.
I could see myself throwing away my vote for Trump. At least I could live with myself - something I’m not sure I could do by voting for Obomney.
I think he just likes calling people out. He doesn’t have anything to lose really. Mitt can just let him do all the stuff he won’t do himself.
These games can be played when both sides play by the rules—you know, producing ACTUAL, not doctored, records. Do you suppose there’s any chance in hell we’d get the real thing from Obama? No. A demand or a swap like this one would produce nothing more than new cries of racism from a host of Ivy leftists.
ATTACK HIS SURROGATES!! It is the Obama Lapdog media - go after them with a vengeance each time they raise the issue. THEY and THEY ALONE are 100% responsible for keeping this issue alive!
People here have been telling him to do that for a year.
He refuses to do it. God knows why.
I don’t think Trump wants your vote. He wants to see Obama OUT, and voting for Trump will not lead to that end.
Well, I guess THAT settles THAT!
"Donald Trump has absolutely NO credibility with me."
I don't agree with Trump politically by any means (he's all over the map, and he's defintely not a Conservative)... but I'd much rather have him be on the offensive about things like this than Romney being constantly off message, and always on the ropes about his tax returns and Bain.
Romney and the credible voices need to hammer Obama on the "dinner table" issues, and let the surrogates duke it out over the personal stuff.
Axelrod loves to play this game where he comes up with psychological personal attacks that all of his minions parrot... leaving Obama to "hover above" it all (he's doing it now with Harry Reid, and he did it with the gross attacks on Sarah Palin's family in '08). While not the most important issues of the day, personal attacks need to be addressed somehow. I don't want to hear Trump talk politics... but I think he's very effective in aspects like this.
On the other hand...
Millions of folks see Trump as yet another stooge for Obama. Everytime Trump opened his mouth about the BC issue, people laughed at him and called him an idiot which is part of the “Saul Alinsky” game plan that benefits the Kenyan.
Disclosure: I’m a birther - through and through. But I recognize others (ignorant though they may be) who still believe the many and various lies Bammie has concocted regarding his birf; and they scoff at Trump.
Trump is a useful idiot - to be sure. But the question is... WHO’s idiot?
Ours or theres?
