Support for same-sex marriage has risen across the board in the last four years, new polling data shows, signalling a shift in the overall political and social views of Americans.
The new data, released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, shows a higher percentage of Democrats, Republicans, whites, minorities and people of all generations support same-sex marriage legalization....
Among voting groups, there has been an increase in support for same-sex marriage even among Republicans. Since 2008, Democrats have jumped in support from 50 to 65 percent; Republicans from 19 to 24 percent; and Independents from 44 to 51 percent....
The Pew data supports other recent polls showing acceptance of gay rights is becoming the new norm for Americans. A May Gallup poll showed a majority of Americans polled consider gay or lesbian relations morally acceptable.
The poll showed 63 percent of Americans believe gay relations writ large should be legal, with non-religious Americans, women, youth and Democrats more supportive of gay rights.
Government policy has also been shifting in favor of this new norm. This year not only saw the president's public announcement in support of gay marriage, but also the repeal of Don't' Ask, Don't Tell, leading to more open acceptance -- and even praise -- for gays, lesbians and bisexuals serving in the armed forces.

Stop spinning, troll. You called Sarah Palin, "Joan of Arc" at least twice on this very thread. How was that not a snide attack on her? Your derogatory comments most definitely are about her. Always have been.
The charge stands, and I won't let you misdirect this. You've been denigrating one of our country's finest conservative champions for almost as long as she's been in the national spotlight. Period.
There isn't a single rational reason for you to do so. Your behavior in this is indefensible. Even Jim Rob called you a troll two years ago, because of it.
Instead of doing the honorable thing, and taking a hard look at the fact that your gaseous and cutting remarks against Palin are an attack on someone who personifies our mutually held convictions - you continue to keep yourself trapped in a psychological mind pit that's all too typical of those who would rather die, than be proven wrong about something in which they've truly erred.
I dare say you'd rather give up your account here, than ever admit that you've done our enemies' bidding, which you have.
Comment Subtitle : 'Only a fool cant see that Sarah is running.' (Windbag)
Funny how even certified ruling class establishment RINOs like Karl Rove can see that Palin’s running, but some long-tenured Freepers can't.
It fairly boggles the mind.

Comment Subtitle : It would be catastrophic if Sarah didnt announce on Sept 3(Windbag)
There's just too much hoopla going on about everything Sarah's been up to in the last week or so. Everything she's done has fueled the speculation that September 3rd is the big day. I don't think there's anything they can do to quell the anticipation now.
.
Can you imagine what's going to happen if she doesn't announce then? Heartbreak city all across the US, and a big “I told ya so” from all of her enemies and doubters.
It would be catastrophic, in my opinion.

Comment Subtitle : Sarah must announce on Sept 3(Windbag)
Of all people, Sarah knows how much is riding on what she says on September 3rd. She knows that she can't just breeze through her speech without tackling the question head on. The pat answer, “I'm still considering it” will not fly in Indianola, and she knows it.
.
I'm sure that Sarah is looking at this, and has already realized that events have moved into such a position that she must announce on the 3rd, then shift into a whole new battle strategy.

I love the part where you say Palin MUST BE RUNNING because Karl Rove says so, now there’s a beam of light for you to follow
LOL
HA_HA, Dream on there coward.
You were the kid who got left behind three times and still needed help attacking the smallest kid in class. Well I am not him.
That sure is a lot of replies for such a tough guy. I would have thought you would have told me off in twenty words or less.
Frankly, I’m not even interested in wading through your posturing drivel. I made my point.
Point??, You mean your head??? :)
I love your way of putting things :” ...give up your account here ”
Bad news for you : I AM STILL HERE!
I probably wont be ‘giving up my account’ here anytime soon.
When you picked a fight in school and got your clock cleaned I bet you ran home and cried to MOMMY telling her she needs to fight for you, HA-HA
seriously guys, if i want to hear more from her today, i can buy the book or flip on the fox channel...
That was what I was posting about until that first cult member, windbag's buddy, launched the first attack. then he mysteriously followed.
Who brought up SP anyway? Is EVERYTHING about her?
What a sad day for Free Republic, when the supporters of John McCain and registering illegal immigrants so they can stay here and work, are no longer considered mainstream Conservatives.
I’ve always wondered what Elmer Gantry and other well know hucksters from the past were all about. Now I know. When you’re on their level you can endorse a lot of people, and then claim you did or didn’t really get them elected depending on the general consensus of real Conservatives.
For instance, you could endorse John McCain, help get him elected and then state that you really weren’t the reason he got re-elected. You could also endorse others and claim that in those instances, you really were the person who go them elected. Then later if anyone complained, you could flip and say, well, you know, I didn’t really get them elected. At first I thought I did, and then it became real clear to me that I didn’t.
I’ve never aspired to be, or to support someone who was the Jean Dixon (famous seer from the sixties) of political endorsements. That’s a person who doesn’t make literally hundreds of predictions for the future and then claim special status because one of them did come true. It’s a person who endorses a number of candidates, and then claims the endorsements only helped the ones who won that were conservative.
The ones that didn’t win, the ones that were poor examples of Conservatism... let’s not talk about that. Move along. Move along... books to sell, appearances to make. Caution: Potential sucker crossing just ahead...
She’s the head of the Tea Party. She wasn’t elected, appointed, or gifted with any Tea Party position whatsoever, but don’t let that slow you down. Shhhhh, she’s a queen of something. She’s the champion of the mouth, of the mouth, for the mouth, and by the mouth, screeching her way into the history books, one sucker at a time.
Go, go, go..., gosh this feels good. Come on Jean, tell us another story... Tell us about how you saved a state, or conquered an oil company, or transformed a political badger into a lamb, so you could return it to Washington. Oh please...
Sigh, bliss, oh the colors, so many colors... Oooooooooooooooo...

BUMP!
The cultists are the most entertaining. I think the more aggressive ones dont really believe anything but they need the cult as that link to each other as a bullying gang. Much like the Hitler Youth (except just text naturally not real) in that they like a feeling of power that comes with a personality based cult that units them. The personality is the saviour and victim in one and threats and insults replace arguments.
The Bush-bots, the Paulists , theyu all act alike.
One thing that always annoyed me is that many people need an earthy Savior to look up to. There aren’t any.
Hey, guys, I am still here.
It looks like windbag sticking pins in his SOL doll did not work, or him trying his rain dance to get lightning to strike me. Looks like all the rain poured on him instead,
Not like it’s the first time he has tried :)
” t looks like windbag sticking pins in his SOL doll did not work”
Maybe he ran out of blackhead pins ?
