Many Southerners are of English heritage. They should put aside the old hatreds for their English cousins in the North over the Civil War, and celebrate their shared English heritage. If the Irish can have their St. Patrick's Day parade, English Americans can have St. George's Day parades. I would be happy to march with them, if invited, despite the fact that my heritage is Southern European. Mitt Romney should publicly declare that he is Anglo-Saxon and proud of it. His people should have an English pride movement, and make English the official language of the United States.

If a tactic is continuously employed it is because it is working. The guilt over slavery crap works because white people allow it to work.

It's all well and good to be proud of our individual heritage. I am. But that isn't nearly as substantive as honoring our overarching values. This we can define and nurture, build upon past achievements, enjoy the rewards now, and promote and pass them along to successive generations...so it's more relevant, since we can actually participate in it.

Oh, btw, Leftists also understand this, which is why they are perpetually trying to obliterate our way of life. First they must break down traditional shared values in order to fundamentally transform us into something more to their liking.

If we don't respect our own values how can we preserve them?

When I was in the Army, they celebrated African-American, Asian-American, Pacific Islanders,Spanish heritage MONTHS. There was NEVER anything for Caucasian peoples month, week, or hour. I was told that would be racist when I asked one of my sergeants about it.

I don’t have a single drop of Anglo-Saxon blood in my veins (that I know of anyway). We’ve been solid Italian for centuries.

But because this country welcomed my parents and this is where I was raised, I need to speak up in defense of a people whom I love, and who the politically idiots have despicably trashed.

It royally ticks me off when people in this country whose ancestry is of the British Isles think they need to go chasing after some pseudo African/Native American/Asian because they are just “boring old white people” or whatever. Like these Elizabeth Warren types. Who go chasing after a 1/64th blood quantum to hold on to some tiny scrap of being Indian as if all the Northern European didn’t matter.

Are you kidding me? Seriously? I’d count it an honor to be descended from the Anglos who founded this nation or to those literary or cultural giants who shaped it, like Nathaniel Hawthorne.

The AngloAmerican culture is not some cultural null value whose only purpose is to make you feel bad about yourself for not being something else. There is some great heritage there...and folks I am saying this as an *Italian*....and we don’t take a backseat to anyone in that respect! My parents learned your language, they became citizens, they love this country. My dad grew up in Italy loving stories of the Old West, which he finally had the privilege to visit himself some years back.

Don’t apologize for being Anglo. Be proud of it. Work to weed out the bad and cultivate the good, yes, but be proud of who you are.

I am proud for you. And I am not the only son of immigrants who is, that I can assure you.

Have you noticed that when the media uses the term “Anglo” that it is almost always pejorative?

I’m Southern, and my ancestors came from Surrey county in England. I am VERY proud of my heritage and I don’t care what PC whiner or minority has a problem with it.

That said-—”hatred” of Northern folks? Really? If you’re conservative and Northern, come on down. We simply don’t want any northeastern LIBERAL values down here. We also don’t want condescension or assumptions that we’re toothless and ignorant. That kind of thing tends to make you less welcome.

The start of it all:

Puritans = East Anglia
Virginians = Wessex
West New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware = north midlands
backcountry = north Britain, Scotland, and Ireland

I don’t believe in being proud of accidents of fate. My race, height, nationality, skin color, hair color,that was all just my being born lottery it’s not like I did anything to get any of those things. Now what I’ve DONE with that, yeah I’m proud. Proud of active verbs, never of random chance.
