DEVELOPING: Maryland authorities have thwarted an alleged mass shooting plot and seized an "arsenal of weapons," Fox News has learned.
WJLA-TV reports that police foiled what they believe would have been a mass shooting by an Anne Arundel County man. The station, citing police sources, said the suspect was about to get fired from his job. He was arrested in Crofton, Md., Thursday night.
A source close to the investigation confirmed the report to Fox News, saying the "subject is emotionally disturbed." The man called up his workplace and threatened to shoot people, the source said.
When police took the man into custody, they found an "arsenal" of weapons inside his home.

Why do so many comments seem to glibly pass over the fact that someone here threatened to kill people, and pillory the police instead?
Have we figured out whether he’s Tea Party or OWS Black Bloc yet? Obviously HAS to be one or the other...
Betting the rest were hunting rifles or some such thing. Any AK or AR would be reported as "numerous assault rifles."
What ever I have next to my bed.
No, but now he is reported (same article - constantly updated) to have uttered something about “The Joker” when threatening to shoot up his co-workers.
Then say ‘Twenty firearms’ unless you are certain that there are twenty guns.
All guns that use gunpowder are firearms but not all firearms are guns.
Ping me when they do...shouldn't be long.
My German Shepherd.
The 38’s in the closet.
Maryland police have worked very hard to earn the reputation as being shoot first, power tripping thugs and we'd hate to not recoginize that effort.
hmm...as a matter of fact, yes it is.
Which Amish? The genuine religious counterpoint, or the strange version of color?
No, it’s neither.
My own personal opinion is that most people think of an arsenal as a stores room where a militia would go to arm up when hostilities were about to break out.
Individuals have gun collections. They don’t have arsenals.
That’s not to say that an individual couldn’t develop their own arsenal, but that generally isn’t the case.
Of course the media is playing word games again, trying to demonize anyone with the audacity to own something more than a clothes-pin match-stick shooter.
He had a good “minimal” collection there, to be sure.
I’d recommend those to someone who asked what firearms they should buy.
A good .22 rifle would be a must in a minimal collection, but that wouldn’t have served the purposes for Holmes.
Living here all my life, I wouldn’t say that. I don’t recall too many stories, either.
In any case, clearly this dude is a nutcase who deserves to be taken down. I don’t focus on police for that.
Oh this is awesome. I’m moving to the Crofton area in about two-and-a-half weeks...
Harper’s Ferry?
ABC is frantically searching all Tea Party listings for anything remotely close to a "Neil Prescott".
“I wonder what they consider an arsenal?”
More than one gun and more than one box of ammo for them.
A brick of .22 LR gets reported as FIVE HUNDRED ROUNDS OF AMMO pant pant, and a spam can of 7.62 AKS ammo is even worse.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
I shall use the term firearm from now on.
Nice turn of a phrase!
