ABC News president Ben Sherwood told staff today that last Friday's incorrect report by Brian Ross detracts from the network's otherwise excellent coverage of the Colarado theater shooting, network sources tell POLITICO. Sherwood's remarks, made on the network's daily editorial conference call, came the morning after Ross's report was picked up by late night comedians John Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central, both of whom used Ross's erroneous suggestion of a Tea Party link to the Colorado theater shooting as fodder for their Monday night routines. On Monday's conference call,

Pads his mea culpa with bloviating praise for the rest of the coverage. Who besides him thinks it is good? With such blatant political bias, why would I even listen to the rest? If I could delete ABC from Uverse, I would.

It takes a couple of late night comedians to get these people to feel embarrassed?
So if those two fools had never ha said anything this moron would have been proud of their coverage?
I like what one guy said about CNN. Stop covering these lunatics that kill. In fact, we should all stop watching any of this story.

I habe to wonder if the “steps” that need to be “taken” include “investigate, prove facts, report on facts”.
If not, nothing else matters.

ABC News president Ben Sherwood told staff today that last Friday's incorrect report by Brian Ross detracts from the network's otherwise excellent coverage of the Colarado theater shootingThis was not an "incorrect report" - Brian Ross and George Stephanopolus knew exactly what they were doing when they put this report on the air in a deliberate attempt to smear the Tea Party.
To: Nachum
ABC News SVP James Goldston ... noted the incorrect report, and said that the network was taking steps to ensure it did not happen again .... One SURE way to keep it from happening again .... but they won't give Brian the boot out the door he so richly deserves.

I’m actually thinking that abc probably is correct about what the mom said. The producer that spoke with her took detailed notes of their conversation, and the report I read this morning said that the mothers lawyer called abc and asked if there was a recording of the conversation, at which point when informed that there was not, the mother then came out and made her statement. I bet the mom either said something she regrets or doesn’t really know what exactly she said.

It didn’t detract from their coverage. It just validated their bias.

ABC News president Ben Sherwood told staff today that last Friday's incorrect report by Brian Ross detracts from the network's otherwise excellent coverage of the Colarado theater shooting... only because in his zeal to smear conservatives he overreached.
Ben wants ya'll to smear smarter, not harder.

No kidding. I wonder if Ben's going to have anything to say about the blatant injection of editorial comment into what was ostensibly a news story on
Romney's response to the "You didn't build that" Freudian Slip.
From the article, emphasis mine:
"Team Obama is
finally pushing back.
and
"Republicans have seized on the line "you didn't build that" to
falsely claim that Obama was speaking directly to business owners about their businesses."
To: Nachum
Sherwood's remarks ... came the morning after Ross's report was picked up by late night comedians John Stewart
Sherwood's remarks came AFTER the liberal comedian made fun of ABC.
If Sherwood had any integrity, he would have made his comments RIGHT AFTER Ross made his ignorant remark regarding Mr. Holmes and The Tea Party.
