After listening to Rush's interesting description of inter-net beginnings this morning, I was surprised and impressed at how early you got in the mix. I was about to send you kudos for being the first Freeper banned until you cleared that issue up.......so I guess I'll just send in a a donation instead.

I think he tried to link himself and it didn’t work the way he thought it would.

How much time did he give to discussing Arapio’s press conference? Hm? ZERO?

The next day, in the third hour, Snerdley was apparently pestering him about the Arpaio/Zullo conference. He said something like, "What? Arpaio? The Arpaio conference? ... hee hee hee hee... No, I'm gonna just wait and let that... fester for a little bit... hee hee hee hee...."

He knew the MSM was waiting with bated breath to get his response.

If you want to hear speculation on the response to Arpaio, go to The Ulsterman Report. Word there is that Arpaio has hit on something that was not brought up in the presser that's got the White Hut on edge. The rumor is that MCSO is holding something back.

“I listened to parts of that segment. Rush’s correct percentage just dropped a bit. How got all kinds of things wrong in that segment. His knowledge of computer history is terrible.”
_________

I listened to the show, and was not going to say anything, but I thought the same thing...that he had quite a bit wrong, but I don’t know enough to correct him. A Cliff’s Notes Primer would be appreciated.

Ponygirl,

Well...There is always hope.

Personally, I was a faithful listener of Rush. Hopefully, he will redeem himself. Since 2008 he hasn't, though. Rush's redemption is like waiting for Godot.

Xerox licensed and sold its patents to companies such as Apple, after making limited efforts to manufacture and market its own products based upon those patents. Xerox in the late Seventies and early Eighties judged the market presence of IBM mainframe computer monopoly to be too formidable of an obstacle in the office automation market for the corporate market was targeting. IT management in the corporations were almost uniformly hostile to the introduction of the early microcomputers and personal computers, because they were trained to rely upon mainframe computers and networks. A vice president of Information Technology went so far as to chastise the corporate managers for requesting the purchase of early microcomputers and the first IBM personal computers by saying they were a waste of the corporate budget and would never amount to anything of value to the corporation. Consequently, our Retail Markets Division of Xerox found the corporate IT shops to have virtually closed doors for anything other than the occasional IBM personal computers. This market environment took a number of years to change after the Xerox patents were already aged and approaching expiration, and Xerox had already profited to a lesser extent through licensing and sales of the patents.

I was never banned from Prodigy. Just thought the internet would give us a broader audience, so started Free Republic...

Thanks so much Jim for the thorough reply. Once again, you've busted another untruth with the facts. You've been doing that year after year after year and I'm sure that you and Free Republic will long continue as a beacon for Conservatism.

Suffice it to say that what remains of Prodigy is relegated to a mere curiosity but Free Republic remains dominant, the 800-pound gorilla for news and informed opinion.

You are absolutely right! I had to fight right up to the CEO
of a major Corporation to purchase one of the early Toshiba Laptops in 81-82 for $6000.00! I got it, but pi**ED of the IT VICE PRESIDENT royally! Then the flood gates opened wide!

Yup, that would be James Golden (AKA Bo Snerdly)

He was at the first Freeper Ball in 2001.

Thank you very much, BIGLOOK!!

I had been a regular poster on Prodigy’s news boards for a few years starting in the early ‘90s. Did a little surfing on the Internet during that time, but nothing serious. John had been encouraging me to get involved on the internet for several years, but that was before the modern browser was introduced. The browser made it possible for non-computer geeks to use the net. Our company purchased a fledgling Internet Service Provider in ‘95, so I got a chance to learn the internet business from the inside out. I finally decided to get serious about a conservative news site a few months prior to Clinton’s re-election campaign and so launched FR on Sept 23, 1996. By the way, John had been running his own BBS from his bedroom on a Commodore (toy computer) since he was 14. That was in ‘88. He later upgraded to a Mac and finally to PC. It’s in the blood.

Thank you so much! I feel like a real Duufus asking that question after seeing your answer, but thanks again and I support Sheriff Arpaio and the MCSO 1 Trillion Percent!
We have a foreign born Total Fraud and a Radical MUSLIM TERRORIST occupying the White House, the OVAL OFFICE, and using AIR FORCE ONE in the most demeaning way possible flying his skinny, perverted body all over every darn day!
No wonder that his handlers shipped his Gay Lover, Reggie Love off to the Wharton School to get him out of the way before Campaign 2012!

out of all those on TV Hannity for me is the biggest fraud out there.

He’s never mentioned conservative social issues and once said he has no problem with hwo marries who.

Seems him hanging out with his elitist liberal pals has got to him plus his boring tiresome story of how he was a hard worker from nothing, yea his whole two weeks of doing yards as a teen, ARF\I now nevr listen or watch him and refuse to give him a number on his viewer ratings
