I could be wrong here, but, isn’t it illegal to take a gun into a movie theater in Aurora?
If so, I wonder how many of those purchasing guns know about this?

From previous posts, that particular Cinemark theater, had posted signs on no firearms. Dunno about the rest of the theaters in Aurora.

I would be willing to comment that some places across the nation are now considering special training of attacks like this. How to equip your carry with a tactical light and or a light laser combo. They make USB rechargeable green laser pistol attachments now. Cabelas has one, and the Veridian is a very compact unit.

The shooter was dressed to look like SWAT, almost to the point its possible some patrons had a mental lockdown about rushing a SWAT officer.

I would think many are considering that situation in detail.

Terrorism will play upon the brainwashed security some Americans have been led to believe. Who knows, maybe the next attack will be a firetruck coming to the rescue of a burning school, except they aint firefighter’s, just saying our enemies will prey upon our social weakness.

If that is the case, all they can do is ask you to leave if they realize you are carrying. Same is true here in Indiana. Any establishment can post a sign stating no guns allowed, however, it is not illegal to carry there. That said, the establishment owner can ask you to leave. Nothing wrong with this. I believe strongly in private property rights and if an establishment owner wants to set that rule it is their prerogative. That is why so many bar owners are up in arms (no pun intended) with the smoking ban here. They had no choice in the matter.

It's not the schizophrenics and psychotics who are rushing the gun shops

If it’s illegal to bring a gun into a movie theater, then someone failed to inform the shooter of that law.

I say anyone who was in that theater that day, has earned the right to carry a gun anywhere. If 20 families show up carrying guns, will the theater turn them away and lose revenue? I don’t think so. It’s time to fight back and be responsible individually. Stop depending on others to do their job.

Laws are useless unless 100% of the population abides by them. Laws are just words on a piece of paper, words which can be manipulated to suit anyone.

In the extremes of simplicity, no law should be required beyond “thou shall not kill”.

Any laws on top of that are moralizing, attempting to create a moral society through more and more laws.

This is what the left does, and is attempting to do - if only gov’t/society had more power over controlling human behavior, we could all live in peace and prosperity (utopia). In reality, all we need are the “Big 10”.

Not illegal in Colorado. Only illegal to carry on school grounds, government offices, and posted places that have permanent metal detectors and guards - to really keep all weapons out. Carrying into the theater would only violate a company policy. If discovered they would ask you to leave. I will bet you a number of company policies are now being violated. ;-) I myself accompanied my kids to a showing last Saturday...draw your own conclusions...

I like it. Maybe we ought to have open carry day at the theater or any other business that thinks their silly signs will deter a nut job. Kind of like a flash mob of open carry... Hey we are all here for bbq, are you really going to turn away fifty hungry customers?

Wow...the tragedy happened on Friday night. It’s only Tuesday and since the data was only available Monday for the article to be formulated, I’m impressed (sarcasm/-) that they could detect a national trend after Saturday, Sunday and Monday. (Sundays, many gun stores would have been closed).

I have no doubt many folks might be induced to arm themselves, but only 2 days of data don’t make a trend!

Indeed, these signs are only there so that the theater is not liable if there is a shooting. In Arizona some shopping plaza places have such signs for such reason. They technically are not “legal” in weight per say.

I’m wondering if that means the customers have an assurance of safety. If the theater is then proven to be unsafe as in Aurora, are they then liable for those killed and injured?

As much as I dislike many lawyers, I think this is a chance for a pro-gun lawyer.

In the cinemark, nationwide chain it is....against policy that is, not the law in most states with CCW/CHP

No guns = No $$$$

Not a surprise. If Obama wins in November we can expect a spate of new gun taxes and regulations, if not laws. Mail-order ammo purchases are definitely going to be targeted, both at the federal and state level. Get your battle packs and spam cans NOW.

Movie theatres in Aurora are gun-free zones perfect for mass shootings!

Yes, if the business disarms you then they are assuming liability for your protection. In Houston, the Metro buses use to have the "no firearms allowed" signs and when it was pointed out that Metro is now responsible for passenger's safety, the signs came down. I hope that someone or group sues the paints off of the theater chain.
