During the chaotic aftermath of the Colorado shooting on Friday, a particularly chilling moment came when ABC News spoke to the mother of suspect James Holmes by phone. The network reported that the woman, reached in California, "told ABC News her son was likely the alleged culprit, saying, 'You have the right person.'" The article also said that Holmes's mother was "apparently speaking on gut instinct" when she "immediately expressed concern her son may be involved in the shooting death of at least 12 people overnight."
Today, she disputed that account, claiming her quotes were misused. If true, that would be ABC's second big screwup within the same story. [Update: ABC stands by its reporting; see below.]
"This statement is to clarify a statement made by ABC media," said Holmes today through her lawyer, Lisa Damiani. "I was awakened by a call from a reporter by ABC on July 20 about 5:45 in the morning. I did not know anything about a shooting in Aurora at that time. He asked if I was Arlene Holmes and if my son was James Holmes who lives in Aurora, Colorado. I answered, 'Yes, you have the right person.' I was referring to myself.
I asked him to tell me why he was calling and he told me about a shooting in Aurora. He asked for a comment. I told him I could not comment because I did not know if the person he was talking about was my son, and I would need to find out."
They have two new owners now, James Holmes, TEA Party and Arlene Holmes.
So this woman is woken up at 545 am by some ABC reporter who starts peppering her with questions while she’s still half asleep and knows nothing of what happened yet.
Some jackass trying to impress his boss with the “big story”.
What scum they are.
All the Bolshevik's Children
FUABC.
We report the news.
You seem to be confusing the news with the truth.

I’m glad the mom made this statement. It clears up so much!
poor lady. What a way to wake up.
First Mr Zimmerman, now Mrs Holmes. Who’s next?
Reporters are supposed to report on reality, not create their own fiction.
Sorta changes the whole story, doesn’t it. The FCC isn’t good for much, but they sure need ro get after this one.
Mosk said today that he awoke Arlene Holmes and informed her that a man, he believed was her son had been arrested in Aurora and asked to confirm their relationship..."
This is the same Matthew Mosk of MD4BUSH infamy. The bad penny turns up again!

I was skeptical of the way/context that she was quoted from the start. She’d have to be as big a nut as her boy to have said that in the context reported, why, if she had known of his potential, she could possibly be charged as an accomplice, or some sort of charge related to the event. Another bit of proof that ABC’s reporting is agenda based and/or dangerously incompetent.
The question is, who hired him to be the hit man?
I’m so angry right now that I’m sitting here at my keyboard just shaking.
My wife and I have a small number of Disney Corp. shares. We’ve decided that if these people sue ABC, we’ll donate our shares to help with their legal expenses. We no longer want to be associated with that company in any way.
What a shock..ABC lied AGAIN..except this time even I fell for it thinking that is what she said..this is why NO ONE trusts the media..what was even more disgusting is that the second after this tragedy happened the first thing ABC does is try to find a connection with the tea party..anything to connect this guy with the GOP..that is the goal of the “Media” today..when a tragedy strikes the first thing they think about is how can this help the Democrat party
That was before Brian Ross & Steponallofus declared it was the Tea Party.
I hope she and the defamed TEA party Holmes sue ABC out of existence.
.......................................
And this ought to quiet some of the conspiracy theories about how he paid for it:
Holmes received $171,024 from the National Institute of Health for his first year in the program.:
On the other hand: 0bama and Co, DID actually fund this massacre.
And a further example of why this nation is so incredibly in debt.
My word they are despicable. And....I dont’ have to go to work tomorrow so I can call up and tell them so.
While I agree that ABC is scummy in its reporting, how do we know the mother risn’t changing her story on advice from her or her son’s attorney?
