Powerful conservative Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., thinks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin deserves a prime speaking position at the Republican convention.
"I'd love to see Sarah Palin have a big slot as far as speaking because there's no one still in America that excites the base of conservatives and even libertarians as she does, he told Fox News Thursday.
She can draw a crowd more than any other Republican, and I think has more influence in primaries than any other endorsement right now, so I think she'd be good."

Can't argue with you there, but it's nice to see hime bow to an American though (for a change)
Actually, I hope the same.
Because I don’t trust the GOP - I believe they want what they perceived as their enemy (as they proved they don’t embrace her nor Newt) to be close to them that what we want may happen.
“What does piss up a rope mean?”
It’s ancient Celtic for, “God I really love you man”.
Sorry, I tend to forget that not everyone understands old Celtic and I may have mistakingly assumed that your first language was english.
Got to go.... my boat guy will be here soon to talk about putting my yacht back into the water.
Like I said, piss up a rope.
Mitt Romney continues to do all that he can do to lose. If only, both, BO and Romney could lose to a true conservative!
And Sarah doesn't have to improve her credentials - that's the bottom feeder mitt's talking points that mittbots are still repeating. Mitt's credentials are from the pit.
I could not have said that better myself.
Well Said and 100% right on, Sarah is about AMERICA, not about preserving the Grand Ole Progressives Chairman's seat on the Water Drainage Committee.
Go Sarah!
Not your aren’t - you are wearing your mittbot mindset because if anyone has a plastic smile, the world knows it’s Romney. Those who know him, don’t call him cold and Mr. Tin Man for nothing. So dressed up in some discernment because you are way off. LIARS always hid behind a mask/plastic smile.
He’s just the voice of PDS showing they still are infected.
You make a good point. Unless a speaker is willing to kiss Romney’s ring (or something else), the speaker won’t get an invite to the stage.
I've had 4 of them in the past 5 years or so. We really need a new expression, as root canals are absolutely painless. I fell fast asleep during one of them.
Palin CHOSE NOT to run in 2012. What makes you think she would run in 2016?
I’m not sure about that.
Romney won, by being the most balanced competitor, and he does have deep, deep pockets.
That said, Palin has the most competitiveness.
I sense she backed down this year due to feedback from her family, but that either has already begun to dissolve or at very least will by the next go around.
If she’s already gotten an all-clear from her family she could be in this already for V-P.
Unfortunately none of us will know that, until the position is named...
You jest.
If Sarah doesn’t get a prime time speaking spot, how much of the Republican convention are you planning to watch?
1. All of it.
2. Some of it...maybe prime time.
3. Almost none...
I’m in for #3.
Doesn't matter what a turd like you excuses. Patriots don't excuse same sex marriage, SOCIALISTIC healthcare, pro baby killing, and a gun grabbing candidate.
And your candidate has brought that filth to MA which is AGAINST what AMERICA is about! And he excused OBAMA not being eligible. He's said NOT one thing about it and too frightful to touch it. Wimp! So mittbot, YOU FAIL!
John McCain was the last time for me and then, only because of the presence of Palin on the ticket. That won't happen again, no matter who's on the ticket with Romney.

Romney really should have had this done by now. Not even so much offering her a speaking slot, but having her on the team. And by that I mean “the minute he locked up the nomination”. Because even as a private citizen, she’s still a popular figure in the GOP and in the greater conservative movement, rightly so, and she’s earned the right to be treated as such. And because no matter how good the polls look, you simply never have the luxury of throwing away a supporter like that. Let alone her supporters.
Running mate? In order to avoid a rerun of 2008, I doubt she’d do it without the kind of commitments of present loyalty and future support from Mitt and his senior staff that Mitt may not want to give and (maybe “and” should be “because”?) his staff wouldn’t. Even if the staffers did commit, I’m not sure I trust most of that species, let alone these guys, any further than I can throw that fat eunuch Schmidt. But he really should have called her, sooner rather than later, and asked “What do I need to do to get you on the team, endorsing me, campaigning for me?” Whatever it would have been, it would almost have to have been worth it to avoid this.
I seriously doubt that Sarah Palin is going to be giving any speeches at the convention, unless it is out in the parking lot where she would draw bigger crowds than Mitt-Witt’s sycophants would inside.
In another thread, I pointed out that if for example, Sarah Palin was arriving with sufficient delegates to assure HER nomination, it would be highly unlikely that she would fill up the speaking slots with liberal, left of center RINOs and dirtbags like Romney, McStain, etc. We would see people like Jim DeMint, Scott Walker, etc., not RINO-bloviators like Chris Christie from New Jersey (the current reported keynote speaker).
In a hypothetical past convention at the Cow Palace in ‘64, had Barry Goldwater failed to win enough delegates, does anyone think that Ronald Reagan would have been invited to speak at Nelson Rockefeller’s nominating convention? Noooo, don’t think so.
And there is another factor, to which I cannot claim credit for, but my good FRiend SickOfLibs pointed out, is that at the present time, Sarah Palin is a paid political commentator for Fox News, and just as she would have had to resign that position had she chosen to run for the nomination this year, I suspect there would be a conflict with her speaking at Romney’s coronation while on the Fox payroll.
In a perfect world, Sarah would announce a third party run making use of the old Reform Party establishment, which would fulfill the title of Phyllis Schlafy’s 1964 book, “A Choice, Not An Echo”.
You know NOTHING about SARAH and NOTHING about Romney’s tactics during the campaign. HE WON NOTHING - HE LIED VICIOUSLY about his only opponent NEWT - that’s his trademark - LIAR, he knows nothing else! Along with his use of other candidates for his gain.
Don’t hold your breath, SARAH would never accept a VP from him. And clueless why she didn’t run either. I’ll leave you to that as the UNTEACHABLE don’t want to learn.
She just might steal the show but, not having Sarah play a major role would be a major mistake. Maybe a fatal mistake.
