Daily Kos Blames America First for Aurora Shooting
NewsBusters,org ^ | July 20, 2012 | Tim Graham

Posted on 07/20/2012 8:11:47 PM PDT by Kaslin

While the Daily Kos first reacted with horror like everyone else to the Aurora shooting, it didn’t take too long for the America-bashing to begin. The blogger known as “Killer of Sacred Cows” grew angry that Rep. Louie Gohmert would suggest the madness could have been stopped sooner if someone else in the theater was packing heat. That apparently put him in “Idiotsville.”

But KoSC really wanted to blame the American Culture of Violence for the shooting, that our screwed-up social system doesn’t tolerate diminished mental capacity, it creates it:

..we keep seeing the MSM talking heads endlessly speculating on why he did it. But notice - nobody is going to bring up "the American Culture Is Violent" as a reason, because that would mean it's not just about this one crazy lone gunman, but about US. And that means we might have to change.

The problem with that is getting past the mental and emotional resistance of those who continue to believe that we're the best country in the world, the best culture ever produced by human beings, and the best everything else...

It's the American culture of violence that allows a dips--t like Louis Gohmert, (R) Idiotsville, to claim that more violence will somehow solve the problem of violence and to know that the majority of his supporters will agree with him. It's the American culture of violence that moves people to support vigilantism instead of due process. It's very likely the American culture of violence that causes people like James E. Holmes to do what he did - one person on my Facebook page said "I find it interesting that the automatic reaction is that this is diminished mental capacity, instead of a reaction to a system." That's because we can't handle the fact that diminished mental capacity often comes about AS a reaction to a system.

While we mourn the loss of innocent Americans, it might be worth adding that another Kosmonaut, Paul Bibeau, after unloading his opinions on Bible verses and Chick-fil-A, thanks the restaurant chain for its effective killing of those disreputable Southerners:

“I love your chicken, by the way. I mean, it's so unhealthy it's probably killed more Southerners than crystal meth, General Sherman, and illegal fireworks combined... but it's undeniably tasty. If you stop shooting your mouth off about that book you haven't read, people like me might come back.”

The “Killer of Sacred Cows” is complaining about violence?

We are reeping what the leftists that grew up in the 50s and 60s who were true belivers, dupes and fellow travellers of the communists planted to grow and destroy the American society and culture they hated. The amoralism and secularism is a result of the attacks on basic Judeo-Christian morality, which has rendered the mainline churches into secularist institutions that have abandoned their religous roots for popular platitudes and pursuit of the Marxist delusion of “social justiced.”

A lot of truth in that.

I’m not sure a guy with a gun could have stopped him. Apparently he planned for that possibility. He was suited up for the job.

Maybe not (though I am totally confident he could ), but three guys with guns would.

Also, most of them think that, as Lenin’s “Professional Revolutionaries” they will be spared the pain the will inflict on the masses.

In real America, someone would have returned fire. This crap is happening because govt. wants to lord over sheep, not men. Real men don't need a SWAT team nearby, just a gun that works and the will to use it.

Wolves(the shooter), sheepdogs(armed citizens+cops) and sheep. There you have it: a society of sheep waiting to be sheared. PS, acts like this deserve a rapid and public execution. The execution doesn't need to be rapid, just videoed. I think a drill with a 3/8 bit would do nicely. Start where there are bunches of nerve endings. Finish between the eyes. Let Bob-the-Builder do it so kids can enjoy it too.

The people who saw him had been conditioned to automatically think he’s a cop.

A couple of them said they took him for a) a PR stuntman, or b) an enthusiastic fan (admirer no doubt of Rocky Horror and Star Wars).

More die each month in Chicago.

ABC News tonight blamed that on the "gun culture", too.

Chicago has the strictest and most unconstitutional gun laws in America -- but hey, if we don't do it the Chicago way all over America, how can we expect Rahm Emanuel to be able to police up Chicago the "right way"?

Gotta get 'em all!! </s>

Occasionally, I check out dailkos mostly for the “morbid curiosity” factor, but I can honestly say many folks over there from the ignorance of their posts look to me to be living in a perpendicular universe. It’s unbelievable how their view is dyametrically opposed to the reality around them.

Wasn’t two of their reporters, Kristen or Kirsten Powers, I can’t remember, she’s on fox now, I laugh every time I see her, well, weren’t they partying and sleeping around with politicians, it was as if they were selectively pursuing Republicans to bring them down, there were all kinds of photos of these two dressed to the hilt hob knobbing, partying with the political elite, one guy, a Republican, I’m pretty sure, was taken down by them, what was his name?

Kirsten Powers used to be a columnist for the New York Post. She writes now for The daily Beast. She is one of the many political analysts who appear on Fox News

"But KoSC really wanted to blame the American Culture of Violence for the shooting...."

OK, take all of the BATFE manpower/firepower/metalpower and focus it on Hollywood and TV precluding any use of ATFE in ANY of their presentations.

This will kill two birds with one stone. The BATFE will stop harassing normal Americans and Hollywood and TV will be bankrupted.

A bonus will be that copycat idiots will have to find something else to copy.

When the President’s own BATF, FBI, and Department of Justice are clearly responsible for putting ASSAULT WEAPONS in the hands of illegals, criminals, and foreign nationals, why is it NOT logical to assume that law-abiding citizens who are concerned for their own safety and the safety of others around them are the potential violent problem? Why?

Nothing in their arguments holds any kind of water, even the frozen kind. These are nothing but soundbite canards and specious reasoning hell-bent on justifying the liberal dogma of the “state is all”. Curse them all.

The violence on TV and movies sets the example and teaches whackos how to kill people.
