Tip - Christie to give keynote address at RNC
NY Post ^ | 7-18-2012 | Josh Margolin

The word is going out quietly to Republican activists across New Jersey: If you’re going to the GOP convention in Tampa next month, be sure to be there by Tuesday night, Aug. 28, because Gov. Chris Christie is going to be giving the keynote speech that night.

“We’ve been told that’s the night to be there, that’s when the governor is going to speak. They’re saying he’s the keynoter,” one top party activist told The Post yesterday.

NOT Palin... NOT Rubio in his home State... fellow abortion loving christie will be his top henchman.

Christie is not pro-baby killing. He has said that he became a pro-live convert when he heard the heartbeat of his unborn daughter more than 15 years before he ran for Governor of New Jersey. (Unlike Rinomney who ran for governor of Mass as a baby-killer and then conveniently decided that he's not a baby killer when he decided to run for POTUS.)

Great. Just great.

A grossly overweight, pasty, white, bigmouth RINO with a Joisey accent is to be showcased as the face of the GOP! Maybe the GOP is trying to get some votes from The Sopranos?

Rubio, West, or some other minority conservative should do this gig - or a genuine courageous hero like Scott Walker! Doing that might have a chance of creating some real excitement in the ranks and maybe even changing some minority perceptions.

The only people Christie might energize are losers who washed out of the Weight Watchers program, Karl Rovacrats, or Ann Coulter. The only perceptions that might be changed are those of conservatives and Tea Party patriots as they realize how badly they have been sold out by the effete GOP Beltway Establishment types who want to be invited to the best Washington cocktail parties, get rave reviews in the media, and get a piece of the lush Washington political action!

Losers...

The party has decided conservatives aren’t wanted. Fine by me. Let the liberals in the party have their slobberfest. This conservative doesn’t care anymore.

I am sick and tired of crybaby conservatives!

FReepers even today cannot coalesce around an alternative to Romney from those that were running.

What did you expect to happen during the primary?

But naive children cry even when they lose due to their own mistakes.

Just another GOPe RINO. Opposed gun rights, favors homosexual “unions”, favors Muslims that are anti-American, favors illegal aliens and supports amnesty, and supports ObamaCare.

Not exactly something a conservative can support.

“I am sick and tired of crybaby conservatives!”

Calling conservatives “crybabies” for demanding a conservative candidate is nothing but you being the crybaby because conservatives won’t support your chosen liberal candidate.

Um, he’s only going to give a speech.

Also, someone else said it is unlikely he would be VP if he gives keynote address.

I wouldn’t know... there are no Conservatives working for mitt so we know less than anyone what will happen within mitt’s campaign.

I hope that you are correct but I have my doubts due to some of his statements. I have no idea when those staements were made so you very well could be right. I also do not trust him on the Second Amendment... and I do not trust mitt either.

You had better learn of a way to tolerate discontent Conservatives because we are never going away and we are sick and tired of compromising republican progressives. We are not whining or crying... we are bitching and raising hell... and it is going to get worse from here on out. Only mitt can stop it and he will refuse to. mitt hates us more than we dislike him.

The least we can do as a group is to send e-mails to the Romney campaign and tell them, “No Sarah at the convention, no vote.”

Wasn't crying at all. Just stating what is obvious to me, but apparently isn't to you and others. The Republican parry is now a liberal stronghold and there is no place for conservatives. The ones in the party who are left would do well to leave and form their own party.

I expected a fair primary, not one that was rigged. Romney was anointed the candidate even before the primaries began. The other candidates were just for show. They had no chance.

I did a Google search based upon my recollection and found many articles referring to Christie’s position on life. I remember reading about his conversion after he heard his unborn daughter’s heartbeat because I had a similar conversion nearly 25 years ago when I saw my unborn child’s sonogram and heard the heartbeat and fianlly my mind was in sink with what I had already known in my heart.

I don’t trust Christie on the Second Amendment either, but unlike Romney, at least he let’s us know where he stands on the issue even if he is wrong.

Calling conservatives “crybabies” for demanding a conservative candidate is nothing but you being the crybaby because conservatives won’t support your chosen liberal candidate.

So, you prove yourself to be an imbecile AND a crybaby conservative!

I did not choose Romney, nor will I. I am merely sick of self-identified conservatives who whine and cry like liberals everytime they lose.

There is no conservative nominee because conservatives were too busy cutting each other up while Romney marched to the nomination.

Look yourself in the mirror because you are part of the problem, and offer no solution except to run home with your marbles and cry yourself to sleep.

Reagan won the 1980 primary because conservatives coalesced around him and didn't split their support to 5 other candidates.

Are there some within the GOP who prefer moderate/liberals? Of course! But they get behind a single candidate and win. We do not.

We spent months on FR tearing apart every candidate from Bachmann to Perry to Gingrich to Cain to Santorum. None were good enough for self-professed arbiters of who is conservative and who is not.

Meanwhile, Romney marched right to the nomination as many of us warned and feared.....only to be ignored by those who had a problem with every candidate that was 100 times better than Romney.

So, stop the snarky comments where you call everyone a liberal supporter.

You made this bed, now sleep in it with the fleas of your hubris.

Here is a link to the speech Christie gave at the Reagan Library last year. If Christie gives a similar speech at the RNC next month, I think we are in for a real treat.

Remember that the role of a keynote speaker is to establish the theme of the event at hand and get people in the audience pumped up. Another purpose of the keynote speaker with respect to political conventions is to draw people in and get them interested enough to want to hear the content of other speeches to follow.

I think Christie would be a lousy VP candidate but he can be an effective keynote speaker.

Now Sarah Palin would also make a great keynote speaker for the same reasons stated above. However, she has not yet come out and endorsed Romney in the strong manner that Christie has. I believe a strong endorsement of the nominee is a pre-requisite to being named keynote speaker and that fact alone has likely prevented Palin from being considered for this key role by the Romney camp.

i like Palin and only jumped on board the mclame ticket once she was nominated...i despise the way she is treated but fact is once she stepped down from being Govenor it was over....

Christie took on the unions and won in NJ without all the BS Walker had to deal with....

btw- the Q&A segment after that speech is gold...
