RUSH: Albany in New York. This is Ed. I'm glad you called, sir. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Basically I think Obama and the Democrats, the conclusion they drew from his 2000 election is that the American people were stupid. He's the least qualified person in either field, far less qualified than even Sarah Palin, and the only person with his lack of qualifications is Hillary Clinton. Basically him and his allies in the media ran a confidence campaign, or confidence game, I should say, on the American people, and they think they're gonna be able to get away with doing it this time.

RUSH: Well, I think there's no question they're campaigning on the stupidity of people. The ignorant, that's who he's building his constituency on, a collection of ignorant this, ignorant that, there's no question. He's counting on the fact that there are more of them than not. Along the lines of what you say, grab sound bite three. Here's a montage. Folks, while the country's going to hell in a handbasket, the media is thrilled. They are excited beyond belief because Obama is Swift-boating Romney. They're excited. They love it because they think they're now getting revenge for 2004. Of course, there's no comparison. The Swift Boat vets were a bunch of people that served with John Kerry, who said he was unfit for command. There's no group of Bain executives who worked with Romney who say he shouldn't be president. Not even a story here. But listen to the montage.

PAGE: This reminds me of John Kerry and the Swift boat story.

ACOSTA: This is a Swift-boating of Mitt Romney.

O'BRIEN: The Swift boat ads used the strength of John Kerry really against him.

MORRIS: It reminds me of 2004, it's the Swift boat summer definition.

BRIGGS: Reminiscent of the Swift boat attacks against John Kerry.

RICH: Swift-boating John Kerry. So this is nothing new.

POWERS: We certainly saw Republicans do this kind of stuff with John Kerry.

WEIGEL: This is what was done to John Kerry.

HARWOOD: Just as republicans went after John Kerry on his military experience.

FOREMAN: Mitt Romney could become the second politician from Massachusetts Swift-boated out of the presidency.

RUSH: That was Tom Foreman. Look, there's no comparison. The Swift Boat vets, were people that served with Kerry, and knew he wasn't what he said he was. This is just revenge. They're just happy. They think they've finally come up with a way to pay the Republicans back.

Isn’t the true definition of “swift boating” telling the truth about someone and challenging the bogus narrative created by the campaign and distributed by the state run media?

All the vets did to Kerry was to expose him for what he really is.

True, but irrelevant in this context. The reality is that definitions change as popular memes gain acceptance, and manipulating those memes/definitions has always been a useful tool in the leftist playbook.

Corrupt the language, corrupt the culture.

All this to one side, Mitt needs to get off the stick. The mud throwing is working and he’s looking weaker every day.

I just found this and it hits the nail square on the head

"Swiftboating" New American Political Jargon Term Meaning "Outing" the Fraudulent Exposing the lies, deceit and fraud of self-glorifying public officials

Donald Trump was on Fox and Friends this morning per telephone and he sad what Romney needs to do is to bring up 0bama’s college papers and ask for them. He said that would shut up 0bama and his reelection team. I tend to agree with it

He needs to quit responding to the lies and go on the offensive instead. It's not as if he doesn't have enough ammunition to use - the last 3.5 years of Obama has given him plenty.
He ruthlessly went after GOP primary contenders, but is giving Obama a pass. This is disgusting, but typical of the GOP.

A Press Secretary was asked by a reporter for the college records today and he sneered at the guy and said that was rude or something to that affect.

[POWERS: We certainly saw Republicans do this kind of stuff with John Kerry.]

When the news media dug up Swift Boat founder John O'Neil’s political contributions they found he had given about equally to Democrats and Republicans over the years. His motivation was powered by anger at John Kerry's performance at the Democratic National Convention and his references to Vietnam veterans as war criminals. This was an anger shared by most combat veterans if 2004 exit polls are an indication. This movement began spontaneously.

The Bain attacks on Romney are a purely political tactic that dovetails with three years of the president's destructive war on big business, small business, Wall Street, bankers, doctors, the 1 percent, and the upper middle class.

Swift Boat History 101

Dear MSM
Your boy Slickster proved draft dodgers could
be elected POTUS in ‘92 and re-elected in ‘96.
In 2K your Vietnam assault camera packin’ boy
Gore tried the stale military record against
Bush 2.0 and it failed. Then in ‘04 Kerry AGAIN
tried the mil record issue against an incum-
bent prez, GW. This time vets who served w/
Kerry stepped up to reveal some unpleasantries
about Kerry’s combat record.

Just how was Kerry treated unfairly when
he invoked the tired, old military issue
in the first place? Or do military records
only count when they belong to Demo-
crook candidates?

Thanks
Me

Swift boat:

the media tut-tuts over Mitty’s $10,000 SeaDoo
and ignores Kerry’s 7 million tax evading yacht

I agree with both of you. Obama was never vetted. Obama has sealed, hidden or lost almost every paper that deals with his life. Romney needs to stop playing Mr. Nice Guy and go for the jugular.

Whatever it is he thinks he’s doing isn’t working.

“Mr. Romney needs to stop playing Mr. Nice Guy and go for the jugular.”

It would be nice if the Progressives were treated for what they are; scu*bags.

IMHO

Not really, Rush.

The difference is, they'd be doing this anyway. Rather than "revenge", a better coinage might be "provenge" -- prospective, forward-looking, proactive, and deliberate defamation and demonization through invective.

Look what they did with Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Newt Gingrich.

Standard Alinskyite campaigns of personal destruction aren't "Swift-boating", which was, as you pointed out, built around a core of truth and good intentions.

The only intention here is moving the People "by any means necessary".

No. If Romney came off the "Nice Guy" modality and went for the win, he'd lose "Regular Fellow" points with the RNC Lords Ordainers. He might not get invited back to Highly Significant social events in RiNOdom, events ruled over by the Right People.

What he is doing is archetypal, hallmark GOP loserdom -- he has to do it this way, it's the GOP Inner Circle rules.

Even the GOP Inner Circle has to have some inkling that the rules are changing, that another four years of Bamster might mean a total loss of power, forever.

I do not think Obama ever intends to lose power. He may be forced out if he loses in November, but give him another four years in office and he will be President for Life.
