Excerpt from the socialist-in-chief speech yesterday in Virginia:
"If youve got a business -- you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didnt get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

This was going on with steel 40 years back. The US was making about 90% of the world's specialty steels ~ we were also beginning to phase out the hum drum rolling grade stuff.
I"m not sure we make anything but specialty steels now but it's no longer 90% of the world supply ~ somebody else has probably figured out by now that you can make a whole lot more profit from less and less.
As I recall a Bain special ~ a plain vanilla steel mill ~ went under a few years after the supposed rescue.
Coincidentally GST Steel went under in 2001, after Romney was off doing other stuff ~ you can read all about it ~ just one of 31 steel companies that went bankrupt from 1993 to 2003.
Now, about Romney leaving Bain (which he didn't really leave since he had an ownership interest ~ and he said he could have made decisions, which he says he didn't), this looks like a serious mistake made earlier by Romney himself. Anybody ~ even a postal clerk ~ could see that if a mill was turning out rods used in only a single industry ~ mining ~ that the slightest downturn was going to dump that mill into the rubbish heap of history, and that's what happened.
So, Japan had a kind of stagnation situation and mining interests collapsed, and demand for that particular product ~ steel rods used in mining operations ~ went down the tubes.
I"ve called into question other Bain decisions ~ but this one takes the cake. Makes it look like Romney was attracted by the low cost of entry ~ $70 million ~ but failed to check out why this mill and its supporting structures were, themselves, nearing the time when they would become scrap steel and sent off to India for reprocessing.
If you will, this is like Obama's mistake in believing the antiquated and gutted out General Motors organization was actually "the American Auto Industry".
Like I"ve said many times, whether you get Romney or Obama you get the same thing ~ and that includes business acumen.
USPS has always been quite able to make a profit BUT that’s prohibited by law.
More proof that he is a DOOFUS!
What a great ad to every industrial area of the USA and to small businesses in the MW and South. What an absurd comment by this eco. dunce.
Falcon Code 202. Replace “staff” with “WH”.
DoD never invented anything!!! DARPANET or any of it’s various names was the invention of Bell Labs under direction of DoD.
He lies. As usual. The internet was created by the Department of Defense so the U.S. could still communicate after a nuclear strike by the Soviet Union.
Guy has not one clue how a business is built.
GOOD
I can't wait til November so we can Kick. His. Ass.
Is it the chicken or the egg???
The people who work and slave to create and run the successful businesses pay the taxes, and hire the people who make the wages that also pay the taxes. The government uses the tax money it collects from successful businesses and their employees to provide, as one person who told me I didn’t “understand” what Obama said in his speech said: “support and services that we as individuals or specialized companies aren’t in a position to provide for ourselves—like police and fire protection, safe drinking water, food, air, and medications, a civil and criminal court system, a highway system and bridges to provide mobility, a military to provide us defense and a banking system to facilitate commerce and exchange”. AND, our taxes provide these things NOT only for ourselves, but for everyone in this great Country to enjoy, including those who produce nothing at all and live off the government dole (US!!!) for generations.
NONE of this infrastructure would be available for anyone to enjoy without the successful business and their employees paying for it -— because the Government doesn’t have any money that it didn’t first TAKE from someone who actually EARNED IT.
Hey, if somebody else did that, then why aren’t they paying their “fair share?”
Over and over again, President Obama minimizes the the accomplishments of great Americans; he assails the values that made America the shining city on the hill.
He has become a parody of himself. Is he sabotaging his own reelection? Is Michele tired of the White House?
Clap trap.
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.
——Quote often attributed to Alexander Tyler. But it’s doubtful, probably a combination of quotes. Whatever bunch said it, they are all brilliant.
“we werent sure what our dad looked like with a clean face & he always smelled like diesel.”
I’d wager that the smell of diesel smells sweeter to you than a fine cologne! Your dad is a hero...to bad he is being villanized...
I weep for this country, at least until it is time to pick up arms.
That’s right. As late as 1993 I had to visit the college to access the Internet. We had America Online dial-up (and terrific long distance bills given our remote location).
