A house divided against itself cannot stand.
Those were Abe Lincolns words in his first inaugural in 1861, as America was running headlong into civil war. Now were a house divided again and another civil war is coming, with the 2012 election as its Gettysburg.
Call it Americas coming civil war between the Makers and the Takers.
On one side are those who create wealth, Americas private sectorthe very ones targeted by President Obamas tax hikes announced Monday.
On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).

Thanks for the hotlink.
Yes, that is a manageable-sized grouping of States to form an economically viable Region.
Once the USA is split up into Regions, it will never be put back together again.
There are just to many Regulations to overcome, and some Regions will add even more.
Mark Levin expressed it very well yesterday. Social Security recipients did produce all of their lives, and many still are, unfortunately they were lied to. They were told that the money that they were putting into the system was in their account. It wasn’t, it was in the general fund.
But because the old were defrauded, should the young today have their money stolen? I don’t know exactly what should be done but one thing doesn’t justify the other.

Thanks for the ping. We are, indeed, living in some interesting times......
Possible break up—just as the old USSR broke up. One Russian predicted the Us would break into five nations—I thought it was sour grapes but—the way things are going—it could happen. Obama cancels the election of cheats to stay in—promising money and benefits for votes. With Union backing he declares himself the winner and plans to Transform the USA into the Worker’s Paradise. States leave the union starting with Texas and Alaska. It spins out of control until fighting hits. In five years of fighting there isn’t any USA—all contracts, all handouts are gone. The US Dollar will be worth about 2 cents (if that). America will be a dream gone with the wind. Americans will be going to other lands for opportunities and the world will be run by Russia, Brazil, India and China. They will build a world where want is common—and totalitarianism the common form of rule. people will dream of America coming back—but it will be over. Maybe in a century—something of the old US will evolve.
LOL! Zombie Hunters: We make dead things ... deader.
“I believe the Death Panels are the (unspoken) solution to the SS and Medicare funding problem.
Dropping life expectancy significantly makes a HUGE difference.”
I think you are close to the truth there.
Us old baby-boomers are going to quickly disappear over the next few years. I think I remember a report that %40 of the workforce will retire over the next 5 years.
>>i am sick and effing tired of paying for everyone else...<<
Perfectly sums up my frustrations as well

They are already watching with glee as the USA slides into socialism and the Free Traitors hollow out the manufacturing sector.
“zombies” is to hoards of entitlement gangs coming to take your stuff
as “Amish” is to the “urban demographic” on FR.
Why?
Because you choose to use a low interest figure to calculate return on investment.
If I would have been able to do nothing but purchase annuities with the 15% taken from my pay for the last 45 years, I would have a lot bigger monthly payment that what SS is providing.
If I wold have been allowed to use the 15% to buy gold and many other stocks, I would be far better off.
There are all kinds of investments where my money could go and I would be far better off than the return from Social Security.
The war won’t be between the “makers” and “takers”,
it will be between the “ruling class” that uses the “takers” to achive power, and the “makers” and, well, let’s just say “Americans”.
Do you really think that a federal government, backed by 16 of our largest states, will follow the constitution and just let a new convention happen?
I’m too old. Not even Wal-Mart would hire me.
Gettysburg? That battle was fought over two years into the Civil War, where there is no such "shootin' war" going on today.
A better analogy would be comparing Obama's first term to The Intolerable Acts that sparked the American Revolution, that final "act" which may be the UN small arms treaty and resulting gun grab in the US: Lexington and Concord 2.
Well, the USA Crystal Ball is pretty clear:
WHEN YOUR OUTGO EXCEEDS YOUR INCOME, YOUR UPKEEP WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL. (Paul Harvey).
It is the truth from the kitchen table in every home in America.
The downfall has already started in three Democrat cities in California, and Democrat Scranton, (Biden’s home town) Pennsylvania. As more and more of Amerika’s cities fall to the grim financial reaper, it will eventually come to the US Treasury Dept.
When China cashes in the US Treasury Bonds that it owns, The US National Debt Bubble will burst faster than the Federal Housing Debt Bubble burst in September, 2008.
None of the Elites in “both” political Parties are seriously talking about this problem, or even reducing BASELINE Federal Spending.
Clueless Mitt is on the defense about the smokescreen topic of when he was the CEO of Bain Capital. What a sucker he is for Obamasmoke!
But I digress, when the US Financial house of cards collapses, there will be no money to pay the Obamatroops to stop the State Constitutional Conventions.
Yes, America will survive, but only in those multi-State Regions that embrace the basic tenants of our Constitution.
The States that join the “United Welfare Union of Entitlement Tax Slaves” will be on their own financially.
But the economically sound Regions will still say “ Give me your poor, your huddled masses, longing to be free - - - .”

That's true for people who retired decades ago, but I've been paying the max Social Security tax for the last 30 years, and there's no way I'll get that back in anywhere near two years.
I’ve been looking at the northern part of Idaho for a looooong time...
Ping.
