NBC News, the legendary television and news organization that once starred such journalistic pros as Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, John Chancellor and Tom Brokaw was declared officially dead on Wednesday afternoon.
The death was preceded by a stunning divorce announcement between Microsoft and NBC that had resulted in a long, tempestuous televised and website union known as MSNBC.
The details of the divorce are reported by Daily Beast media columnist Howard Kurtz.
In the traditional style of liberal journalism, the real story was buried deep inside the Kurtz piece and revealed this way:
as the MSNBC channel has forged a separate identity as the liberal home of Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz and others, the company has worried about the brand confusion caused by its straight-news site bearing the same name.
Catch that?
There were worries at corporate about "brand confusion" between "the liberal home of Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz and others" with the so-called "straight-news site bearing the same name."
So the obvious question.
Why in the world would NBC be worried about "brand confusion" with a cable version of itself?
That's right. Because there was nothing "straight-news" about what has evolved at MSNBC.

Oprah already has that.............
Me too.
“Good night, Chet; good night, David.”
Can we still call it PMSNBC?
Goes to show that Fox News has done rings around NBC and MSNBC.
When that doesn’t work they’ll try to make Rachel Madcow wear a dress. And when that doesn’t work ......
LOL!!!
There has been nothing even resembling journalism there since his demise.
OK. Just a guess.
Google has gone far left. People are looking to leave google, but the only real competition in a search engine is Bing, owned by MS. I have seen and made several comments about how I’d like to leave google, but why hop to MS, of MSNBC?
My guess is, MS has gotten the wind up over google’s self destructive plunge into the left, and they’ve decided they don’t need that messing up their brand.
I’m amazed that Gates/Microsoft would have let their name be associated with the low class trash channel this long.
Gates should be ashamed of himself.
No Bill and Melinda Gates....you are ALLL LEFTIST LIBERAL SOIALISTS......and MANY of your ilk are not even SOCIABLE!
Eventually it probably will, as there won't be anything tying it to Microsoft and not much to NBC.
Right now they're trying to change the name of msnbc.com, which is NBC's news website, and which has much content that has nothing to do with the cable channel.
Someday, they'll teach this case in business schools. Microsoft + NBC: what could possibly go wrong?
Fox is about as close as it gets, but they seem to have peaked years ago and are sliding through mediocrity to join the rest at the bottom.
Sooner or later the journalism vacuum will be filled and the hunger for honest news will be satisfied by something other than the blogosphere.
Integrity has long been in hiding, but is long overdue to make a comeback on the public, athletic and political stages.
It will be well received once the shock wears off.
Agreed Liberty.
The Lefties at NBC and Microsoft are looking down the barrel of a serious change in the public’s perception of MSNBC’s ‘progress, hope and change.’
I am looking forward to Zimmerman winning this case and going after the alphebets who slandered him in an effort to create race hate power with fake news.
Gates has no shame. He and his wifey need to start a eugenics news station to help out with their ‘charity’ efforts of sterilizing women and aborting babies in the third world.
What he saw was that recent survey showing the American public in the vast majority, has turned against his press minions over at NBCmsnbc and don’t trust them anymore. He’s about to lose his shirt in the globalist propaganda business. Get out while the getting’s good.
