Assistant House Minority Leader James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Wednesday that the Obamacare mandate does involve a tax--but explained that "there's no tax on anybody unless they refuse to buy insurance."

On Capitol Hill, Wednesday, CNSNews.com asked Clyburn: “In voting to uphold the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate, are you voting for a tax?”

The number three Democrat in the House replied, “Am I voting for a tax? Only on those freeloaders who don't purchase insurance.”

So there's no tax on anybody unless they refuse to purchase their insurance

This is entirely too rich.

There is no tax on me if I don’t by a car, or a candy bar, or groceries either. This guy Clyburn is a real dim-bulb.

““Am I voting for a tax? Only on those freeloaders who don’t purchase insurance.””

Based on that, there is no longer a need for anyone without insurance to go to the emergency room, which means the hospitals can get rid of those fees.

Also, no need for Medicaid since EVERYONE has to BUY insurance.

"Only on those freeloaders who don't purchase insurance.”

Oh, I see. Before, it was all weepy, knee-jerk liberalism about helping the poor, the disadvantaged, and the oppressed huddled masses. NOW they're "freeloaders."

Yet Obamacare gives those Freeloaders a free ride to join and buy insurance after they have discovered a condition they had previously.

They call them freeloaders and then give them a free ride.

It’s a tax so they can force them to buy insurance, and yet it is a penalty if they don’t.

The Democrats want to have thier cake and eat it too.

I’ve seen this mentality before!

One thing that liberals will avoid like the plague is that their “good intentions”, for that matter, any law, must be implemented at gunpoint (through the government).

When I walk them through a scenario that ends up with an agent of the government showing up with a firearm to enforce their will, they say “well, it wouldn’t have ended up there if you’d just complied in the first place!”.

As if that refutes the idea that all law is enforced, inherently, through the use/threat of violence.

everyone is going to refuse. they will pay the relatively small tax. no one is going to have health insurance. once the retarded pre-existing clause kicks into effect, people will buy insurance the day after they are diagnosed with cancer, or in the ambulance on the way to the emergency room.

and the entire system will collapse. then, in the face of this national emergency, the liberals will insist that the only solution to this calamity (that they themselves created) will be a single payer system.

and THEN the country goes bankrupt.

It also applies equally to those who choose to self-insure. Bozos-R-US.

I’m sure a 32 year old male who never goes to the doctor won’t see it as ‘not a tax’ when he goes to do his taxes.

Yes, every thinking person will pay 15,000 for a gov approved insurance plan that provides free bc for fluker sluts to avoid paying a 95 dollar tax. Crazy.
