While the Obama administration was taking a victory lap last week after the 5-4 Supreme Court decision to uphold the presidents signature legislative accomplishment, Obamacare, the Interior Department was using the media black hole to release a much-awaited five-year plan for offshore drilling.
That plan reinstitutes a 30-year moratorium on offshore energy exploration that will keep our most promising resources locked away until long after President Obama begins plans for his presidential library.
(snip)
In the past three years, the government has collected more than 250 times less revenue from offshore lease sales than it did during the last year of the George W. Bush administration - down from $9.48 billion in 2008 to a paltry $36 million last year. Meanwhile, oil production on federal lands dropped 13 percent last year, and the number of annual leases is down more than 50 percent from the Clinton era.

I think so...at least they are directing it. A good friend of mine started working in DC as the head of a small agency with less than six employees. He quickly learned that by expanding his agency's responsibilities, he could get more people working in his agency. The more people he managed, the higher his social rank. Since they are not profit driven, bureaucrats will do what it takes to expand their sphere of influence. DOE is no different. Back in the early 70's during the truckers strike and fuel shortages, DOE asked for an Alternative Energy Tax which would be used to produce alternative fuels. After 40 years of the tax, the DOE has yet to produce one drop of alternative fuel, yet the tax still continues and it helps fund the kind of regulatory crap we see coming out of DC. Wake up, people, it's time to kick some incumbent butt!
The question has moved from, “How many oil and mineral exploration jobs will be lost?”, to, “Will any exploration jobs be left in the United States?”
Of course, I understand China is hiring for the South China Sea and Afghanistan.
I remember there was a time when, instead of saying "250 times less than last year's revenue", we said "0.4% of last years revenue" or "Last year was 250 times more than this year". When did this "X times less" stuff come in?
New math.
Jackwads. (Not you guys - the folks that pushed this kuhscheisse. I get annoyed by disembodedied statistics, but this junk is a joke. Who in heck would believe anything the government - or the media - says, anymore? But I repeat myself. The government is the media.)
Yeah, people who use that type of expression have simply turned off their brains.
If you multiply the revenue by 250 (250 times), you do not get less, you get more.
How about we win both Houses of Congress and do it the Constitutional way? As conservatives we don’t want an imperial President.
He should not wait until elected, but, make it known today that all of these administrative fiats are vacated upon inauguration.
After the Oath of Office, Romney should sign a recision of EOs since 20 Jan., 2009, before he gives his Inauguration Speech.

Basically reduce the FEDERAL government (limit it) to its orginal constitutional obligations and nothing more.
Oh, and no bill to excede 3 standard pages.
No surprises. This will continue until (if) the states where these deposits reside decide to wrestle sovereignty over the deposits from the federal gov’t.
Until then nothing will change.

There goes job creation.
There goes safety from invaders.
There goes the nation.
What has been done
can be undone.
Not a bad theme for the 2012 campaign, actually...
0 would FU a wet dream!
That would a nice start. But just a start.
What has been done can be undone! I like it.
Oh, and no bill to excede 3 standard pages.”””
Also—ONLY ONE item per bill.
Too many bills have multiple items buried inside.
