Cute...but what the cartoon didn’t show was the old guy with the grey beard eating the spare ribs and ham sandwich behind the big stone monument after the end.

Odd to hear the Star Spangled Banner without “under God”, but that was added later.

Thanks for posting. I’ve never seen this 1939 cartoon before. Wikipedia says it was Porky’s second cartoon in color.
How far we’ve descended into Hell in seven short decades, huh?

I loved it! that is, until the last minute when Lincoln appeared.

Cute and politically correct! Porky omitted “under God” from the Pledge.

“Under God” was added in 1954. A version older than that would not include the phrase.

Thanks. Great memories. What ever happened to quality cartoons like this? They absolutely suck today. Poor kids.

“Under God” was added to the pledge in the 1950s.

Cartoon probably came out before those words were added.

As the visual map displayed in the cartoon indicates, the US only had 48 states at the time too.
Also note, at the 6:30 mark in the video, the voice over states:
"And when George Washington signed that document [the Constitution of the United States] he laid the foundation for our 'great democracy'"
The script should be modified to more specifically state: "And when George Washington signed the Constitution of the United States he laid the foundation for our great democratic republic.

The Modern version:
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Democracy for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with EBT cards and Health Care for all.”
