Romney Campaign Declaring Cease Fire on Health Care
National Journal ^ | Tuesday July 3, 2012 | Josh Kra

It's becoming clear that Romney has decided to focus on the economy at the expense of everything else, even issues that could play to his political benefit. He's avoided criticizing the administration's handling of the botched Fast and Furious operation, even as it threatens to become a serious vulnerability for the president. He's been silent in responding to Obama's immigration executive order, not wanting to offend receptive Hispanics or appear like a flip-flopper.

He appears more likely to tap a safe, bland running mate like Ohio Sen. Rob Portman or former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty who won't do him any harm but won't benefit him much either. If the economy continues to sputter, that safe strategy might be enough. If not, his options are limited.

In football, there's a well-worn cliché about the prevent defense (a scheme utilized when a team holds a big lead over its opponent): It prevents teams from winning games. In politics, Mitt Romney is testing that proposition as far as he can.

I've been talking about Romneys apparent strategy of playing "prevent defense" against Obama even before this writer wrote this and I know there's another saying about 'prevent defense' - it prevents the one leading from actually winning most times

You don’t win a game by playing defense. You have to go on the offense eventually. Romney needs to step up and take it all on. Quit running scared.

Mitt Romney: Use when lying and looting aren’t quite enough to bring conservatives into the fold.

BEHOLD THE GOP’s CHAMPION = MR.ROMNEYCARE
IMPOSING THE GOP's SIGNATURE ACHIEVEMENT: DEATHPANELS.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn't make any sense at all.""

This is why Romney is the unelectable candidate. There is no true killer instinct to achieve a path to victory.

ROTFLMAO....Romney fans! This is just one of many disasters coming to Romney fans. The next four years are going to be comical and glad I won’t have anything to do with it.

Ole Mitt's worried that he might accidentally win the election... we can't have that, can we?

I'm completely convinced that the "America's first black president" experiment is/was a joint effort between the DNC and the GOP, and Obama's reelection is part of the plan. The "message" they're trying to convey with this experiment would fail if Obama fails to get a 2'nd term.

Romney.

Taking not just a play but the whole playbook from McCain.

Anyone surprised?

He is worse than McCain. Our country is toast.

However, in the 15 states CNN calls its battleground states — Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin — Romney leads Obama, 51 percent to 43 percent. Notably, though, the CNN/ORC International group includes three states thought to be comfortably in the Romney column this cycle: Arizona, Indiana, and Missouri.

I don’t think Romney will take our advice on playing offense. Even George W. Romney ran a more vigorous race in 1967 until he admitted he was the victim of brainwashing.

You can win with defense by sacking the opposing quarterback in the end zone, forcing a fumble, recovering the ball, and knocking said QB out of the game.

To do that you must be talented, smart, aggressive and ferocious.

Romney does not appear to qualify. After a brisk early start, Romney appears timid and tepid - on F&F, and now on ObamaTax.

With the damage that Obamacare does to the economy Romney would be better off attacking both and tying them together.

Looks like he’s McCain part 2. Surrender monkey’s are all we seem to get running as Republicans these days. WTF?
