AFTER weeks of squabbling, Californias politicians managed to get a budget approved this week. Their dispute had followed a familiar pattern. One side, spooked by yawning budget deficits, wanted to make deeper cuts to welfare payments. The other, fearful of the effects on Californias army of unemployed, sought to find savings elsewhere. It sounds like a classic Republican-Democrat ding-dong. In fact, the row pitted one Democratic force (the governor, Jerry Brown) against another (the state legislature). Shut out of the talks, the states opposition Republican legislators were reduced to boycotting budget hearings and issuing sulky statements.
..California gave America two of its five most recent Republican presidents. But the state party has fallen on hard times since the days of Nixon and Reagan. After having fallen for decades, the number of registered Republican voters in California now stands at just 30%
...The picture is no prettier when it comes to elections for national offices. Republicans have not won a Senate election in California since 1988. The party now accounts for just 19 of the states 53 congressmen. The last Republican presidential candidate to take California was George Bush senior. As the most populous state, California holds over one in ten electoral-college votes. But neither Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee, nor Barack Obama will bother to campaign herealthough both regularly drop by to raise funds.
..What seems clearer is that the array of fiscal problems California faces is forcing at least some Democratic officials to tilt in a Republican direction. Voters in San Jose, recently approved cuts to pension benefits for city workers by 70% to 30% . Last year liberal eyebrows were raised when Gavin Newsom, the Democratic lieutenant-governor, journeyed to deeply Republican Texas, along with several Republicans, to uncover the secret of the Lone Star states job-creation record.

“Yes, talking about “race” plays into Leftist hands. But we needn’t be squeamish about it,...”
No need to typecast yourself from the get go as TM did. While I understand and share his frustration, I believe that better solutions exist than throwing around racial stinkbombs. Starting out that way only closes off the ears that need to be listening to our clarion call of defending our borders from the destructive forces that violate them.
Keep in mind that illegals include persons from all racial groups. A visit to the old “Mucky Duck” Pub in Santa Monica would find you surrounded by illegal immigrants from the British Isles, as would a visit to the Lock Ness Monster Pub in Old Town Pasadena. In fact a pug crawl anywhere in the greater Los Angeles are with reveal a surprizing number of illegal British immigrants. PS...A British Socialist is no better than a Mexican one in terms of our country’s future.
To separate out one group of illegals from another, primarily on racial terms is unwise. The object here is controlling the border from any who wish to violate it for their personal reasons no matter what their race or origin. We are either a nation of laws, or we are nothing more than a mob.

” as were the millions of people who voted for a Marxist of dubious provenance merely because he was a Mulatto. In fact, because he is a Mulatto of dubious antecedents, we are even forbidden to criticize his disastrous policies.”
Off topic??? Yes, I understand the apparent American need to be PC on issues of race even to the extent of losing all perspective and judgement....I am not one of those, even as I recognize that the attitude exists.
Athough there are those that claim Obama is not legally even a citizen for various reasons, the fact remains, citizen or not, he is Constitutionally ineligible and at the same time unsuited to hold the office of POTUS given his self-published life story and his pro-offered birth certificate. (The only qualification for President that I am aware of is garnering the requisite votes necessary to win the election, and getting the congress to approve.)
Even so, we have to recognize he has moved his Marxist agenda along despite his meager skills, to our mutual horror. Unsuited/inexperianced or not, it’s much easier to destroy than it is to build. His handling of the Illegal immigration issue is just one case in point.
I am reminded that no President since Eisenhower, who deported them all, has a very good record on controlling immigration. Congress is just as bad or worse...Ronald Reagan’s approval of Teddy Kenedy’s Open border, amnesty, immigration reforms is at the crux of our current situation. Things have not improved since that day.

Much of what you say in your post is true. Mexico is, as a matter of internal policy, shedding its underclass into the United States in order to stabilize its own economy and rise above 3rd world status. That is unique among nations, who are more likely to be losing their “brain Trust” to American industry. (though that seems to be becoming less common as the US devolves.)
Our relations with Mexico have historically been strained, to say the least. The current flap over Fast and Furious, a program that is an assualt on the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, among other things, is typical of that relationship. I wonder at the lack of indignation on the part of the Mexican Government. Something is afoot. I am not a happy camper on many levels.
The only thing I can say for sure, is that we as a nation MUST, first and foremost, begin to gain, and then maintain, control of our borders. There have been calls for that for as long as I can remember. Congressional inaction has always been a major stumbling block, mostly from the left side of the aisle, but not exclusively. With the disasterious Obama Presidency, and it’s looming backlash via the 2012 elections, I am hoping we can change the makeup of the Congress enough to get action on this and other pressing issues.
Coming full circle, using racial language/images will not get the representatives we need elected, much less get those who do get elected, to open up their ears and listen. Using racial language only relegates us to background noise not worth listening to. We, if we are to accomplish anything, need to control the language and discussion. Charged language doesn’t fit the bill, and you know it as well as I.
A larger question looms....have we reached the tipping point as a nation????? That one really scares me.
Reading comprehension, despite my poor typing skills v capital letters, is your friend.
The distinction I was making was that I didn’t undergo training BY SEALs as the poster mis-stated in his post to me.... I provided inter-service training of SEALs in classfied electronics equiptment.
You must have missed the distinction. Barking Seals? Funny! You’re now the thread offical stand up comedian. Congradulations!
I just needed to find out...considering your inconsistency. Plenty of folks like to jerk us around.
Fair enough?
“this thread needs a regular nut alert and no i did not courtesy ping doofuss
what sorta Marine calls themselves an Ex-Marine?”
Might I assume you are referring to me with the basic courtesy of a PING?
Please show me where I have once, just once, refered to myself as an “ex Marine.” The term is NOT in my vocabulary.
Pathetic that you have to resort to fabrications to advance yourself. The lack of a courtesy ping says a lot more about you than about me. It speaks of cowardice.
Ta Ta Sonny!
FRiends yep!
The inconsistencies are not mine, but of the posters uncomfortable with being challenged for their language. Upstream one poster said that I refered to myself as a “ex-Marine.” with futher derogatory comments. Typical behavior of a bully/liar.
Pretend I’m form Missouri....”show me where!” was my responce.
My pop died in 1988...he was a Marine during WW2..survived that and was called back during the Korean War...Was then a Drill Instructor at Camp Pendleton....for 2-3 years. He never called himself a "former" Marine. He was a Marine. Period.
Any yes...the inconsistencies were in fact yours....when you said SEALS...and then seals. There IS a difference.
FWIW-
You are so full of toro mierda, it's coming out of your ears.
70 right now here in Lotus Land.
1986 amnesty, courtesy of guess who?
Now we are passed the tipping point.
“He never called himself a “former” Marine. He was a Marine. Period.”
All Marines, from their first days in boot camp, are taught that non active duty Marines are to refer to themselves as “former Marines.” It is a Custom of the Service. To say “I was a Marine” would be acceptable also.
Note that it is considered an insult by Marines to be called an “ex Marine.” Former Marines on FR threads often referred to PA Rep. John Murtha as an “ex-Marine.” We have collectively disowned him and the insult is openly intended.
“Any yes...the inconsistencies were in fact yours...”
Go back and read through the thread again and you’ll see that one of the poster’s causing your perception of “inconsistencies” claimed that I called myself an “ex-Marine.” Following up with a comment about being a doofus for doing so. I never would use that term, and you apparently misssed his feeble/crass attempt at an insult. He was a coward for not pinging me to that post, but I did see the post and called him on his perfidy. Look farther downthread for my response. To use such posts by reckless and irresponsible poster’s and say that I have been inconsistant is laughible... SEAL v Seal (mea culpa) notwithstanding.
Former Marine is the correct and traditional term whether your father used it or not. Goggle is your friend here if you don’t believe me.
By the way, Marine Boot Camp has never been conducted at Camp Pendleton, except for the Marksmanship Phase when the recruits are bused there from San Diego for a 2 week period, and handed over to PMI’s (Primary Marksmanship Instructors) at Edson Range, for live fire rifle training(impossible in downtown San Diego at MCRD); and then again, in more recent times, in the very last days of their training, for the 3 day “Crusible” challenge. All west of the Missisippi Marine recruits attend Boot Camp at MCRD (The Marine Corps Recruit Depot) in San Diego adjacent to the old Naval Training Center and along the runways of the San Diego Airport. East of the Missippi Marine recruits attend Boot Camp at Perris Island, in Charleston harbor, S. Carolina.
If you watch any Utube clip on Marine Boot Camp (West Coast version), you’ll hear the commercial jets taking off at regular intervals in the background.
`The 1942 film “To the Shores of Tripoli.” about Marine recruit training, and staring John Payne (not John Wayne, lolol) was shot at MCRD San Deigo just prior to Pearl Harbor, and the ending was reshot in Pearl’s aftermath to reflect that event, just before it’s release to the public.
Neither here, nor there. If your father was a DI he served in MCRD San Diego, not Camp Pendleton. Yes a small point, but one most Marines wouldn’t fail to catch.
I knew several men like your father. Many of them, originally Pearl Harbor enlistees, were retiring with near 30 years service during my time in the Corps. Often referred to as “The Old Breed” these Marines were highly respected within the Corps for their service in 3 wars. and the institutional warfighting knowledge gained through hard fought battles in Pacific Theater of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. You should be very proud of him....Korean era Marines had a tough row to hoe, and rarely received the accolades they deserved.
Think what you want. To me you are a non entity.
I think it’s so cute when you cuss in spanish....gush....
I must caution you against such inflammatory posts. Also, notice that the little girl was not wearing OSHA-mandated eye protection as she approached the crazy-looking rock musician wacked on sangría as he wielded his dangerous bow.
Dammit Pelham, I hate to have to admit this, but I would have been rioting right along with them but my hoodie was at the cleaners after that last 7-11 heist.
Some, not all. Project Cyanide/FRONTLET 615 during the 1967 Arab-Israeli Six-day War is still among the family jewels, though the Russians have been relatively open about submarine K-172 under the command of Nikolay Shashkov and its nuclear launch mission are pretty well in the open.
And the activities of US military personnel regarding the sudden demise of several international political figures remains among the intel community's family jewels.
I understand completely. I was in an elite quartermaster corps underwater mess kit repair battalion myself.
God yes! There must be upwards of 2500 of the freckled bastards clogging the streets of LA! Flashing gang signs, belching banger-and-mash fumes, wending their wobbly way to The King's Head, McGinty's, or even the Mucky Duck. Such a problem, these awful unattractively sun-fried white people. Oddly enough, I am categorically able to state that more of them are deported than illegal Mexicans, who slightly outnumber them. By O say, 20 million to 1.
What say we all pretend to be color-blind and enforce the law? Also, what say we all do some basic math and realize that Latino immigration, legal and illegal is far larger and much faster than 200 years of European immigration combined. It was always unlikely that either Swedes, Poles, Italians, or Irishmen were to become fully 1/3 of our population.
The demographic-arithmetic tells us that The United States are to become the hemisphere's largest Latin-American country. And that is true whether or not the border were to be controlled starting tonight at midnight. That isn't a good thing. Neither need it be a bad thing. An excellent start would be to lock down our borders. Right now their is a more-or-less porous and corrupt 200-mile Zona de Tolerancia. Our national choice: More like Bolivia? More like Chile or Argentina? The choice has to be made now, or the Mexicans will make it for us, various Central Americans after that, and then Brazilians.
In re racism. Every social action has an equal and opposite reaction. Yes, many "Euro"-Americans fear the Latino invasion on racial grounds. Surprise! But fear not, the politically correct appear to be in complete control of the issue and will use it to make sure that an increasing number of votes from the immigrants (legal and ILLEGAL) will keep them in power (they think) to help suppress those nasty white folks, who ...gasp ... might even elect a "conservative" party.
You have leaked vital Top Secret Material. You will never be able to eat lunch, never mind get a drink, in Twenty-Nine Palms again if I have anything to say about it.
Say, you ain't CHICOM, are you? They have been trying to steal the Underwater Mess Kit for decades, the bastards.
“I was in an elite quartermaster corps underwater mess kit repair battalion myself.”
Classified underwater messgear?
lololololol.
You have leaked vital Top Secret Material. You will never be able to eat lunch, never mind get a drink, in Twenty-Nine Palms again if I have anything to say about it.
Thankfully, Twenty-Nine Palms was a location where Uncle Sam's Misguided Children frequented, which I thereby avoided. Their chow was not generally up to our high culinary standards. Neither was drinking at 29Papa real big on my list of *to-do* items.
Say, you ain't CHICOM, are you? They have been trying to steal the Underwater Mess Kit for decades, the bastards.
Sadly, the last time I told a young troop that I was going to $hi! in his messkit if his performance did not improve, I was met with a crosseyed blank stare...in this day of plastic bagged MREs. Most of the newbies haven't a clue about what a messkit- or messhall- is any more.
Nyet!
That’s where my spare 54 went ,
Remind me to tell you why those went away someday....
As well regarding the knife post. We used to modify M7 bayonets as our sacrificial stab an grabs. Remove the butt, grind off the lug loop an serrate one side and sharpen other side. Grips back on it an it was a cheap an very functional sticker that got past all the tough parts of the uncooked / raw critters .....
Stay safe....course that’s all classified an I can’t tell you etc ....:o)
