A strange and dangerous criticism of Holder contempt proceedings

Thursday's bipartisan decision in the House of Representatives to cite Attorney General Eric Holder for contempt of Congress came as no surprise. Even a last ditch, eleventh hour attempt by CNN/Fortune to muddy the waters with the ludicrous, libelous allegation that the whistleblower was the only "gunwalker" (a theme gleefully picked up by MSNBC and Mother Jones) failed to stop (or even hinder) the contempt citation.

What is perhaps surprising, though, is the convoluted lengths administration apologists were willing to go to in criticizing the contempt proceedings. Holder's defenders have apparently reached the conclusion that he is best served by pointing out that the aggressive pursuit of the investigation into the administration's culpability in the "gunwalker" scandal would do nothing for the nation's appalling unemployment rate.

Thats exactly right. And the emergency or the “expediency”
is usually “created” as it was in “Fast and Furious.” As it was in the invasion of Libya, as it was in introducing punitive health care.
