The suspects drove away from the scene in a dark, regular-cab pickup truck. The last four digits of the trucks license plate are 3330, according to witnesses at the scene.
Police across the region are on the lookout following an attempted abduction on the Virginia Tech campus Friday morning in which two men tried to drag a woman into a pickup truck, according to the Virginia Tech Police.
Maj. Kevin L. Foust said the woman, who has not been identified, was crossing Henderson Lawn from College Avenue to Alumni Mall about 2:15 a.m. when two men approached her. Police said the men grabbed her and attempted to drag her into a nearby truck.
She escaped, though, and ran from them back toward College Avenue. In talking with police, the woman and several witnesses described the abductors as Hispanic men between the ages of 25 and 35 with brown hair. One wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt. Both were medium in height and build, authorities said.
Foust said the woman was not a current student at the college. The officer said it was too early to tell whether the attack was random.
The two men drove away from the scene in a dark, regular-cab pickup truck, police said. They were last seen turning south onto Main Street. Witnesses were able to jot down the last four digits of the trucks license plate: 3330. Police said the tag was from an unknown state.
In addition to publishing an alert for the public, police sent a bulletin to all area law enforcement agencies, asking them to watch for a truck and people matching the description.
Were just asking the public to be vigilant, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Virginia Tech Police Department at 540-231-6411.
2:15AM on Henderson Lawn is not a great idea.
I wonder if these perps could have anything to do with the shooting of David Metzler and Heidi Childs in a Roanoke Park in 2009.
UPDATE on a suspect mentioned in post no. 1.
