It is the Right of the People to Alter or to Abolish It

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

It is time to get out from behind the keyboard and take real action. I've heard talks of another 'rally' etc. and was quick to say we didn't need another rally. And I still do not think we need another rally, but we need to take action. We tried writing them, talking to them, marching on them, and in some cases even yelling at them. And for all our efforts we got this instead,

And then we were again sucker punched yesterday by our very own US Supreme Court. We were informed bad law can be Constitutional and essentially we were also told it was up to We the People to deal with the elected officials.

Roberts said, Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.

We can sit here and pound our keyboards or we can make the decision to exercise our Right that existed before the Constitution. It is our Right to 'alter or abolish it.' That kind of redress, will come from us getting out from behind our keyboards, becoming visible, and pounding the pavement to get out the vote.

While many of us feel extremely disenfranchised with our option for President we have a responsiblity to do all we can to hold the House of Representatives and rollover the Senate.

We have reached out to our congressional representatives and been rebuked. It is now time to make those symbolic pink slips from 2010 very real.

The first step is to make sure you are registered to vote and then make sure your family and friends are. This is the second step from Glenn Beck, but it is a very valid effort we should undertake along with the Tea Party. Are You Registered

I propose going into this July 4th take your computer etc. to your family picnics and ask your family/friends to check and then to register. If you are bold enough go to your 4th of July Parades and Fireworks and ask random strangers to check if they are indeed registered.

The Power has been given back to us. The only way this can change is through us and as frustrating as that sounds right now, it is as it should be for we are "We the People."

Since we're getting thunderstorms (finally) off-and-on, I don't want to stay online too much. FWIW, I'll simply provide this link to my first post on the thread we were on, letting anyone interested read the discussion there.

Maybe Roberts Got it Right After All

The fact is, we have a decision. It may not be the one we want, it's not the one I wanted to see for sure, but now we have to pick up the ball and run it home (that was an explicit part of the decision). So, how do we go about doing that?

Get as much info about Obamacare, and the taxes that are the major part of the legislation, and give everyone you know that information. Encourage them, if they disagree with Obamacare, to vote for Representatives in the next election who are committed to repealing the Act.

Practically, it is mostly Republicans who want the act repealed, so getting as many of them in office as possible is the answer right now. Mitt Romney, though he wasn't my first choice, is the only viable alternative to Obama. He has said that he will sign the legislation that repeals Obamacare. So he'll need a majority in the House and the Senate to send him that legislation.

The one bright spot in all this is that because of the way the Democrats passed this Act, without discussion, and as part of a Reconciliation package, the repeal can be passed with a simple majority vote in the Senate; 51 votes. The Democrats can't filibuster it. ;o)
Hoist on their own petards, I'd say!

It might be worth a try. I wish I had faith that it would work, but at least we could say we tried before exploring other option.

Well: I sure cannot beat ACORNS record, and most of my friends are already registered and are smart enough to actually make their own choice.
