Conservative Chief John Roberts single-handedly saved Obamacare today, siding with the liberal bloc of the Supreme Court to uphold the law, even though more moderate Justice Anthony Kennedy led the dissent.
The steps of the Supreme Court this morning were packed with conservatives deeply disappointed by the ruling and hurt by the apparent betrayal of one of their own. I think a lot of Chief Justice Roberts. I think his whole history of jurisprudence is deserving of respect from this country up to, and not necessarily including, this opinion today, Rep. Steve King, a Republican from Iowa, told Salon. If I issued an opinion, I think Chief Justice Roberts would want to read my full opinion before he criticized me, and I want to read his opinion, but really, I have a sick feeling in my stomach about what happened here today.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Tea Party Republican from Texas, told Salon of Roberts, Im sorry hes become so cynical. He expects the president of the United States to lie to him, and to lie to America when [Obama] said and he had it said on his behalf repeatedly this was not a tax. For Justice Roberts to say, of course its a tax, he makes very clearly that he believes the president is a liar and its a sad day for America, Gohmert explained.

Its a terrible day for the American people, said Rep. Michele Bachmann, the Minnesota Republican who ran for president. This was an activist court that rewrote the law to make it even more ineffectual, and even more expensive. So this is a sad day.
Chief Justice Roberts was the worst part of the Bush legacy, Ben Shaprio, a conservative columnist and editor at Breitbart.com, said on Twitter.

Roberts has sentenced a lot of innocent people to death with his betrayal. I just pray we have a just God.
That Roberts is a fackin' genius, with a crystal ball to peer into the future.
His fool's gamble assumes that we'll have an election this November, that it will be a clean election (the dead will remain so, and not vote), and that the libtard base doesn't turn out, all the while assuming that we have enough representatives and senators with the balls to reverse this legislatively during 2013.
All of us have better odds winning Powerball than Roberts' backhanded way to overturn this stinking piece of legislation following your plan.
“Some like yourself just dont get it. Hopefully it will sink in some day soon and you will see just how wise Chief Justices decision was.”
In the very least you must admit that your fictitious Roberts was wrong about Kennedy, and therefore looks very, very stupid. Also, that aside from all questions of the duty of justices to abide by the Constitution and not to let petty political calculations to interfere with the truth, he has swapped his inheritance for a mess of pottage. For he has set a precedent whereby the feds can order us to do anything so long as they threaten to tax us if we don’t, and received what in exchange? Authorship of the opinion and a Republican issue that expires on Nov., 2012.
Not that writing the opinion means nothing. Obiter dicta can loom larger than decisions, cf. the infamous Footnote Four. But that’s no compensation.
Thanks. I think you have given the clearest explanation I've read so far as to what just happened. Just a matter of time now and what the next mandates are.
Roberts another gift from the idiot Bush family in the tradition of Souter.
A Constitutional amendment limiting terms, age, etc. There is NO justification for this being a politically-appointed position and certainly not one for life.
Only to be replaced with a socialist Republican regime.
But we won't be able to nullify today's Roberts' Court decision, which made the Fed's power to tax *unlimited*, and which will be cited in future SC decisions to uphold the most coercive tax measures imaginable.
Wish it were Bachmann, personally.
She should be president. Yet many freepers and the media barbecued her.
Worse, he agrees with Ginsburg. I'd rather be dead than be on anything on the side of Ginsburg.
I’m starting to agree that this SC result is actually a plus and the Roberts has done us a favor. This Jay Cost article ties up the loose ends into a rational pkg; http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/what-did-scotus-just-do_647932.html
John Roberts ruled you are a Tax Serf to the Federal Government. Paying for the privilege to pay taxes to the Federal Government.
Bingo. Exact same thought I had today.
NO SALE. Roberts is a progressive plant.
Hey Roberts you marxist, traitorous, evil SOB, its not just a tax . Its a tax and a mandate. Its the government telling us what to do, it is the end to individual liberty. It is the end of freedom. You monster you helped end freedom . I hope you are happy in hell.
