It was an idiot idea to try to find one camo pattern and shade that would work well in all environments from the Arctic to deserts to jungles to urban areas etc.
The best they could do was one bad camo pattern for everywhere.

You mean there is no such thing as “Universal” Camoflage? The colors that work well in the Desert don’t work so well in a woodlands, and those colors that work well in a tropical location don’t work so well in the Artic?
Who’d a thunk?

I’m not sure I believe any of this.
Seems like a convenient slam against the US and anything that sets us “unfairly” above “the rest of the world”.

This is good news for me. I do 3d simulations for the military and we have characters with the current uniforms. Once they decide on the new patterns, I’ll have to do a lot of updates.

The Army should bring back at least some earlier dress styles, none made in China. And get rid of these faggy berets!

The obvious question is: Which member of Congress had a spouse/child working at the company which was ultimately awarded the contract to produce the pixelated camo product?

Most of the troopies in Afghanistan seem to have already switched to the new Multicam pattern.

Yep, politics ruins everything good and puts lives in danger!

$5 billion for new camo? A perfect example of how costly Govt in the USA has become.
Many will point out that the USA supposedly outspends rivals such as China by 10 or 20 times. But do you think China spends $5 billion on new camo for its troops?

The old Olive Drab Green is about as close to universal camo as there has ever been.

...several non-commissioned officers complained to late Pennsylvania Rep. John Murtha, and he took up the cause in 2009.The first thing I would do is look into John Murtha's ventures in 2008 or so into clothing companies making camouflage uniforms.
Lining his pockets, as it were.

Geeeeez!
Just go back to khaki for uniforms in the field. The Grunts will get them dirty enough to blend into whatever backdrop is around in no time.
