Thanks, AZ, for the red, white, and blue tribute.
Did you have a busy Monday? Hope your commute was easy, no obstructionists. *HUGS*
Mine started out slow and steady, but after the first hour became FAST and steady.
Howdy, Conor! It’s always good to see your cheerful self! :)

Did you have an acceptable day? *HUGS*
Woo-Hoo; been there and done that!
The training areas north of the motor pools and barracks are criss-crossed with well defined tank trails that are also well used. During the rainy season, travel on the tank trails could be difficult. Most soldiers supposed that was because of all the mud; failing to comprehend that buffalo roamed those prairies for thousands of years beforehand.
I don’t think we ever had a twister during the 3 years I was there. Something about being positioned between two large bodies of water kept them away; at least, that’s what we were told at the time.
I’m pretty sure they’ve had some around that area, but good
you never saw them. :)
They keep telling us that we don’t have them because we’re
on the edge of the “Caprock” (a very large plateau) which causes an updraft that
keeps them away. Whatever it takes! LOL!
101st MI Bn, right across the parking lot from Quarter Cav.
‘81-’84.
Caprock or Edwards Plateau - does indeed keep the tornadoes away.
We had enough damage from hailstorms while there!
Got that right! Doesn’t seem to protect us from those! Ugh!
Awww....what a cutie he was! :)
Yeah, wasn’t he, though.
Man, where have the years gone?
They are passing so quickly.....
Now our children have children.
What’s that saying?
If I had known how much fun grandchildren are, we’d have had them first!
Good evening, HJ...so you were at Fort Riley, too.
I can imagine the mud after all those buffalo, and years later, hundreds of tanks.
LOL! I totally agree! :)
