Bureau of Land Management officials say they believe the blaze was caused when a bullet hit a rock and sparked the fire. This is the 20th target-shooting related fire this year in Utah, they said.

Sparks don't start fires unless surrounded by lots of kindling, and as any good boy scout knows, even this is not an especially easy way to achieve ignition.
No more likely but liberals love blaming every fire on BS.
Illegal alien criminal scum cause the vast majority of these fires and it sure as hell isn’t from bullets or butts.

Really? 20th target-shooting related fire this year alone? You just can’t make this stuff up - oh wait, yeah they did!
I believe it more likely it was an illegal alien or a drunk or a college kid... 20 bullet fires in one year? Seems awfully convenient for Herr Obama.
These guys are smoking something. Nonsense.
Somebody needs to go all Mythbusters on this.
Set up a pile of gasoline soaked tumbleweeds on rocks and shoot .50 BMG rounds at it all day and see what happens. Don’t forget to invite NBC so they can bury model rocket engines in the middle of it and have the remote activated igniters in place.
That ought to do it. Film the whole thing and put it on MSLSD and CNN every 5 minutes for a week. No more target shooting in the boonies.
i agree about tracers. it was so hot in germany in ‘77 (how hot was it, you ask?) we started pulling tracers out of machine gun belts, mortars could hva e max of 3 flares in the air and they had to burn out 100m above the ground and they were only fired to support tank platoon night battle runs. finally, after we went home, they just stopped because the tracers in the 105mm tank shells were causing fires.
only wat target shooting would cause a fire is overloading black powder weapons and anybody who shoots black powder is already smart enough to know better.
They got swampland to sell too? LoL. Back in the days of the old west, the gunfire would have burned down all the forests West of Pecos river, if you believe this.
Shhhhhhhhh.... you're not supposed to tell anyone. It's a secret. Like the fact that steel does melt.
(oops, now I did it myself).
: )
And a google search for Utah fires target shooters turns up About 1,680,000 results (0.30 seconds) so, true or not, it's out there, and it's multiplying...
How in TF could they come to that conclusion/collusion ?
Yeah, while they were out investigating the 19th fire, they dropped the lit roach, and.... oops.
I saw on the T.V. where they thought/ had evidence that the shooters were shooting at exploding targets.

Tracers perhaps.
I would think that probably a higher risk is just by having folks around. Smoking, exhaust pipes parked in the grass, etc.
The feds have been hot to trot for banning milsurp ammo with carbide or hardened steel core.
Funny that doing searches on youtube.com, not 1 video I see throughout the years of the millions of youtube videos show no gunfire starting brush fires or claim that has happened.
The keywords that I used are in hyperlinks to youtube pages below.

Although, some military guys are shooting the Ma-Deuce say they don’t shoot randomly so not to cause a possible fire.
Yeah, I bet. Morons.
Well, the website is probably something like RomneyForPresident.com or something like that. I'm sure they're taking donations.
Yeah, or it could be all those HEI or API rounds being shot by all those tea party guys running loose in the Rocky Mountains. ;-)
Or APIT rounds too. :-)
