Jerry Sandusky, the former Assistant Coach for Penn State, was found guilty today of molesting children. The high-profile began last year when almost a dozen people came out, revealing that Sandusky has molested them, which then resulted in the firing of Penn State Head Coach Joe Paterno.
Sandusky was found guilty of at least some of the almost 50 that were levied against him. The jurors deliberated for two days, starting yesterday.
Sandusky leaving court earlier today
Sandusky's stepson also stated yesterday that his father had abused him. However, jurors were not aware of this as they were sequestered.
Sandusky faces up to 400 years in prison.
amen
Could be, but she is financially dependent on him; will she collect his pensions from his past employers?
THANK YOU!
Mrs. S didn't want to lose her status in the community. That was what was most important to her, more than innocent young lives being ruined.
Too bad “Joe Pa” never was indited. The more info that comes out, the more obvious it is that Paterno knew about Sandusky’s sicko interests, covered for him and kept quiet.
She is as sick as her husband.
More commonly known as homosexual rape.
Happy Homosexual Pride Month.

PSU football tickets are going to cost as much as a plate at an Obama fund raiser to settle the coming civil suits.
And how does a successful assistant coach go from being interviewed for head coaching jobs to dropping out of coaching altogether? Unless the rumor mill in college coaching ranks had him pegged as a pervert and nobody would touch him.
Except JoePa who gave him an office in the athletic department and keys to the building. But did not want him on the coaching staff.
Who knows? A ton of lives are ruined!
I wish they would have monitored him but allowed even a couple of days to get his affairs in order. The pervert is old enough to remember movies that ended with the villain saying he would "do the honorable thing" and closing the door on his study, followed by the sound of a gunshot. It would be nice to give Sandusky that opportunity instead of immediately turning him over to the prisoners for justice.
He is an ugly man on the outside(didn’t he have enough money to get his teeth fixed?) which reflects his equally barren soul.
What information?
Nothing new came out at trial. The small amount of information actually relevant to Paterno that’s been released in the last six months only shows that he was made a very convenient fall guy for Corbett and the Board of Trustees.
“I also know that I didn’t have to be a Catholic to come to this truth in my life, I didn’t need to be a Catholic to experience God’s redeeming love and forgiveness for my sin”.....
Your absolutely correct....Sadly you are wasting your breath.....It’s not about being a Catholic, it’s about being a Christian....Walk in HIS GRACE AND FORGIVENESS.....

It is said? Who says that? Wouldn’t one of the victims have simply said that in court?
Maryjean,

Okay, does your Bible contain John 20:19-23? That’s confession. If you’re not participating in it, then you’re not having a “unique opportunity” to seek and obtain forgiveness for your sins.
Im not saying hes technically not. You are missing my point. Banning known homosexuals from leadership positions would not have kept someone like a Jerry Sandusky out of his position as he was not known to be a homosexual, was not openly homosexual, never apparently interested in homosexual relations with adult males, or as it would seem, even with adult women.
Many people, even some of his neighbors and friends of many years (and Im not talking about the people who witnessed abuse or the people who it was reported to, or his wife, who I find it hard to believe she didnt know), never suspected he was raping young boys. They thought he was a very nice man, a married man, a straight man, some even claimed a good Christian man, who loved children, especially underprivileged children and truly wanted to help them. While that now seems deluded and in hindsight there were many signs that something wasnt right, it probably wasnt so obvious until the victims started comming forward. Remember that the defense brought in character witnesses, even some former Second Mile kids who testified theyd never witnessed anything inappropriate or had ever been abused and that Sandusky was a great guy.
And it wasnt as if Sandusky was known to frequent gay clubs, gay prostitutes, or gay pride parades. This creep got away with what he did to those kids for years, in large part because on the surface, he appeared to many, to be perfectly normal.
By definition pedophilia is a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Homosexuality by definition is a same sex sexual attraction. Some male pedophiles prey on prepubescent boys, some male pedophiles prey on prepubescent girls, some prey on both, some female pedophiles prey on prepubescent girls, some female pedophiles prey on prepubescent boys, some prey on both. Some pedophiles have seemingly normal relations with adults of the opposite sex or homosexual relations with adults of the same sex, and some pedophiles have never had relations with any adult and are exclusively sexually attracted to children. And contrary to what some people assume, not all homosexuals are sexually attracted to prepubescent children. In fact some, like the gay people I personally know, find it monstrous and disgusting and think someone like Jerry Sandusky should be strung up with a short length of rope.
While Im not making an endorsement of homosexuality, assuming and exclusively blaming openly homosexuals for all acts of pedophilia and child molestation, actually makes it easier for someone like a Jerry Sandusky to get away with their heinous crimes. The most dangerous pedophile is the one who doesnt seem like one.
Recently there was the dad in Texas who beat and killed a man (and righteously so) for attempting to sexually molest his 5 year old daughter. We could correctly say that the dead man wasnt homosexual because he attempted to assault a girl but he was still a pedophile and he needed killn.
The best way to protect children from pedophiles is to keep a close eye on them, not leave them completely alone with just any adult who is not 100% reliable and trusted. Never assume that an adult, even a family member or friend, just because they seem to be nice is not capable of molesting them. Most importantly teach your children, from as young as an age as appropriate, about bad touching in a way that doesnt make them paranoid and why its OK to scream and say NO! and how to defend themselves if some adult, while alone with them touches them in their special places or tries to get them to do something that makes them uncomfortable or icky and they should tell you about it.
Also foster a good open relationship with your child that allows them to feel safe about talking to you about anything and everything and let them know that if something bad does happen to them, its not their fault and they can feel perfectly safe in letting you know about it. Let them know that if some adult threatens that nobody is going to believe you that this is not true and if they are threatened that if you tell, I will kill your family that this person is lying and let them know you can and will protect yourself and them.
Sadly the Second Mile kids didnt come from stable loving homes and thats what made them easy prey. And when at least one of the biological moms reported her suspicions to the authorities, nobody believed her.
Quote from “Deliverance”: “He shore has a purty mouth”
The only problem is, there’s not one mention in any of the coverage about changing the culture that allowed this to go on for so long: A football program that no one dared say anything that might be injurious to “the program”.
I’m not blaming Paterno, I’m blaming the entire football culture in State College, Pennsylvania. When the university has become little more than life support for a football team and the amount of money it brings in and is therefore untouchable and sacrosanct, something is wrong.
Look at the Notre Dame football program—a kid running a video camera on a practice in high winds was KILLED and all they did was pay a fine, and not even a large one.
Four people fell on their swords, two are being prosecuted, one is spending the rest of his life in jail and one died soon after being fired—but the football culture at Penn State won’t change. No one will want to disrupt what is an ATM for the rest of the institution. No one will want to irritate alumni with open checkbooks any more than they already have.
What does it tell you when a football coach makes more than the president of the university?
Despite what generations of slack-jawed Bobby Knight apologists keep saying as their sole justification for his antics, “budd-eeee wee-yuns BAWWWLLLL games” is not anywhere close to a sufficient reason to allow these untouchable juggernauts to exist under the guise of “extracurricular” departments at a college.
The Penn State press release on the conviction is eerily silent on any mention of a change in the football culture that allowed this to go on as long as it did.
That’s one question they won’t answer.
Vlad — in that passage of Scripture, Jesus is speaking to His **disciples**, not only to Peter or His other Apostles.
I am a disciple of Jesus, and therefore (according to the passage you’ve referenced) have been given the authority to offer forgiveness in Jesus’ name.
For what it’s worth, I appreciate the clarity that this discussion has provided — Roman Catholics believe that salvation is not found in Christ alone, but in their particular denomination. And those who aren’t members of their denomination are not able to experience the fullness of Christ. Indeed, they may not even be forgiven and saved if they only trust in Jesus, and are not members of the wayward Roman Catholic Church. I appreciate how such heresy has been so clearly stated by certain Roman Catholic FReepers in this discussion. May this discussion lead people away from Rome and instead toward unadulterated faith in Jesus, our Savior.
Thumbs up^^
