WASHINGTON -- Last-minute talks to stave off a House committee vote declaring Eric H. Holder Jr. in contempt of Congress broke down late Tuesday, when the attorney general failed to provide subpoenaed documents for the panel's inquiry into the flawed Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation run by the Justice Department's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF.
Mr. Holder and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, met for about 20 minutes in an extraordinary bargaining session in the House majority leader's Capitol office. They emerged with Mr. Issa saying the attorney general told him that the department "would not be producing" some 1,300 pages of documents the committee had subpoenaed.

I heard Congressman Walsh on WLS AM in Chicago this morning saying the vote is scheduled for 10:00 am DC time. That’s about 1/2 an hour from now.
At this point Issa has to call for the vote and find Holder in contempt. Anything less and he’s done.

But it won't happen. I predict there'll be yet another last-minute "agreement" that gives Holder more time to incrementally release documents, based on the promise that all will be released sometime in the future at a mutually agreed-upon time.
They'll all breathe a big sigh of relief and the games will go on.
Big surprise (not). Eric Holder met with Darrell Issa and did NOT cough up the documents the House demanded from Holder's 'Fast and Furious' disaster. So the Contempt vote is ON for tomorrow. If Holder doesn't come clean by 10am it will occur - first in committee, then the full House, then to a Federal judge where the REAL trouble for Holder would begin. The big unknown is 'Mr. Softee' - House Speaker John Boehner, who until now has stymied a contempt move for fear of looking like the GOP was conducting a witchhunt against the first black Atty General. One would think all the dead bodies and lies would shake him out of that silliness. We will find out tomorrow. If no new documents come in, and the vote still doesn't happen, we will know why.

I heard on the radio last evening that Eric Cantor (R) was pressuring Issa to end this investigation because it was a distraction during the campaign season.
I hope this is not true, but wouldn't put it past our weak knee leaders in the GOP.

Issa has been up close and personal in the valley of death....he was an explosives expert in the army....defusing bombs.
Holder just requested executive privilege be invoked.
Holder is asking for executive priveledge.(sp)
