In Case You Don't Like Romney... A Challenge To Every FReeper
email from friend

In Case You Don't Like Romney...

Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election …

“If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind:

1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78

2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year

3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August

4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.

Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.

If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky….”

So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:

'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'

Did that get your attention!

You can Blame, Shame and Flame but I will never vote for Romney.

Ive about had it with these posts by folks of your mind set thinking your idiot post will change my mind or others like me.

BTW I don't want Romney selecting replacements for Kennedy or Scalia he will appoint judges far less conservative than either based on hes record in Massachusetts..

He wont get to replace the liberal justices they will hang on till another Dim is elected president if Romney wins.

That’s why we have to be vigilant in getting out the vote to vote in a Republican Conservative Congress (House and Senate hopefully) who would not allow Romney to appoint people like Souter. They do have to go through a confirmation process, you know.

“Most are trolls who flock to post such as this.”
*******************************************************
You’ve got that Dai-uy! Everytime there’s a thread such as this, the trolls pop up so frequently it starts to seem like I’m in the middle of a vast prairie dog city—but with trolls popping up instead of prairie dogs.

They act like they actually believe their posts will hold down the Republican vote come November; pure delusion.

These are the postings and advice of Pubbie, back when he favored Obama over McCain

Provide actual proof in the form of posts made by SoConPubbie in which he states he "favors 0bama over McCain".

This is your put up or shut up moment Mindbender.

So the fact that Romney appointed mostly liberal judges in Ma., shouldn’t concern us at all right?

I think it is fair to say that we all can work together to ensure a Conservative Senate, which would block any liberal nominees to the SC (by either obummer or Romney, no matter who gets the win)... But trying to get a Conservative to vote for one such as Romney is a non-starter. Especially using fear tactics such as these.

You're clearly on my side here, so don't take this personal.

I agree with your sentiments, so I hate to be the proverbial turd in the punch bowl, but we should be very careful about our strategies this fall.  We must be rabid realists!

We had a Republican Congress and Senate from 1994 to 2006.

How much of the last 50 years of Leftist legislation did we nullify?  How much of the Leftist agenda, and Leftist dominated agencies did we close?  Did we tell universities and K-12 schools that they must either bring their faculty back close to political parity or lose their federal funds?  Did we take any action whatsoever to stop the Department of Education from implementing the U. N. E. S. C. O. directives that are anti-American?  Did we step in and put a stop to the International Bacalariot Program, intended to remove national/centric examples of history, and replace them with neutered examples of history designed to break down national unity/loyalty?  Did we protect our kids form campaigns to indoctrinate them away from their parents morals?  Did we defund NPR and PBS?  Did we get our border under control?  Did we take measures to enhance or constrain our individual freedoms?  Did we immediately take action to counter Clinton's signature of agreement to join the International Criminal Court?  Did we urge our allies to avoid joining such a court?  Did we avoid implementing any new massive government programs?  Did we get our schools back on track to the point that our students now compare well to foreign nations?  Did our team take action to avoid a servere an almost catastrophic economic earthquake?

I like to be the eternal optimist, always seeing the silver lining, but I refuse to lie to myself and others any longer.

We're never going to fix this mess, as long as we continue to.

He is a good Freeper? Go to his FR home page, (before he changes it,) and it’s nothing but anti-Republican hype.

You seem to be under the illusion that one must be a Republican in order to be a Conservative, or at least in order to be a 'good FReeper'...

That is not the case. FR is not a Republican site, but rather a Conservative one. I thank God and JR for that.

Yes.

1. All the issues he has flipped flop on. That shows he is, as he has been labeled, an Etch-A-Sketch. It shows he can be manipulated and cares more about the electoral victory in front of him than the issue.

2. This is his first term. 2016 is his goal. If he continues to run as a Republican, he must pander to the Republican base for donations and votes.

3. Even with his abysmal record on judges, he did choose 25% conservative judges. Yes, that is 75% liberal, but that is 25% more chance than we have with Obama.

3. The Right has shown it can manipulate politicians on issues when they get their mind to it. See the Harriet Meyers nomination or the Kennedy amnesty bill.

Add those up, and there is at least a fighting chance.

Now let’s look at those four things with Obama.

1. He isn’t one to be manipulated or pander to the right at all. He is a hard-core liberal activist.

2. He has absolutely no election to run again on after this one. It is all or nothing for him with no one to be accountable to.

3. There is a 0% chance of any nominees being from the Right.

4. We have absolutely no leverage there. He isn’t looking to the right for votes or to raise money off of.

It is a pitiful option, yea, but those are the choices we have in front of us.

We don’t get to choose the battlefield, we only get to choose how we fight on it.

Romney appoints liberal judges. He’s not known for his great love for the constitution. He calls himself a progressive. The part of obamacare that is the most constitutionally invalid is what big ears borrowed from Romney - the insurance mandate.

The only reason to vote for Romney is so that when he screws us, we can join with his friends across the aisle and impeach him for treason. With Obama, the GOP is too weak to impeach him even as he violates the constitution on a daily basis. It’s all Republicans can do to vote to put Holder in comtempt of Congress for one of the many crimes he’s committed against the US.

The Dems would smash Romney if we were not protecting him. And I will not protect him if he screws this Nation over with social or economic socialism or globalism.

Here is your proof:

When McCain was fighting Obama for his political life, Pubbie listed endless reasons to NOT vote for McCain, but never a word on his FR home page about Obama. See post #117 for verification. That is HIS FR home page.

Now, Romney is trying to beat Obama, and Pubbie is all anti Romney... but not a word about Obama.....

See any similarities here? 2008-2012?

When it walks like a duck.....

But when the election is all down to the R vs. D, a Conservative does not spend all one’s time criticizing the R, as he does.

I said earlier this year that I would NEVER vote for a guy as Left of center as Romney is.

If a guy is still going to unravel our nation, even at a slower pace, then I have no desire to have to admit to myself for evermore that I made it possible.

Look at the mess George Bush left us with in 2008. I enabled that. Not voting for him in 2000, I bought the admonitions of folks just like you and voted for him in 2004.

I’m sorry, I can’t vote for people who disagree with my world view as much as Romney does.

I can honestly say, I am over the GOPe. I’m done with it.

Want my vote in 2016, nominate someone I won’t be ashamed to say I voted for.

One might take some advice from them, but with their records of election , the smart man does not take political advice from them.

How many elected offices have you held?

“3. Even with his abysmal record on judges, he did choose 25% conservative judges. Yes, that is 75% liberal, but that is 25% more chance than we have with Obama.”

So now you’re willing to stoop to voting for someone who is only 25% Conservative.

He can be a Liberal 75% of the time, and you still think he garners your support.

I’ve said it a number of times, and I’ll continue to say it.

If the GOPe can get us to vote for people like McCain and Romney, they will never support another Conservative in our lifetime.

Go ahead and vote for the 75% Lefties. No thanks.

Any FReeper who does not now work enthusiastically for the election of Mr. Romney is supporting the nomination of Eric Holder.... or Hillary Clinton to SCOTUS!

BS. Hillary is too old for that kind of appointment (those go to judges who are in their late 40's and early 50's) and Hillary wouldn't take the position if it were offered. She wants to be president and she is probably praying for Romney to win so she can run in 2016.

On top of that Obama hates her guts and only chose her for Secretary of State so that it would make him look magnanimous.

Eric Holder would never get out of committee for any judicial appointment. He's a crook and everyone in Washington knows it. Obama would probably throw him under the bus, but Holder has access to all of Obama's FBI files.

Romney will probably appoint the next David Souter or John Paul Stevens or Earl Warren or all three.

Romney is probably going to win the election, but he is going to do it by appealing to democrats who are fed up with Obama and liberal crony capitalist pro-abortion Republicans. He is not going to win by getting my vote.

If the only other option is 0% then absolutely. Anything to even put a speed bump on the path Obama is taking us on is an improvement and gives us a fighting chance.

Churchill had to side with Stalin to defeat Hitler. The alternative was unthinkable.
