In Case You Don't Like Romney...
Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election
If Romney wins the nomination, as seems very likely, I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who may have hesitation on that score, Id just ask you to keep four things in mind:
1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78
2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year
3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August
4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago and has had cancer twice.
Whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.
If you dont think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think youre smokin something funky .
So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didnt get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win ... just imagine this possibility:
'SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER'
Did that get your attention!
Justices, like other old people, have a habit of dying when you least want them to.
It’s your choice; Obama or Rmney.... and that’s your only real choice.
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn't make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
br
nice. Thanks for that.
Freepers vowing not to vote for Romney come hell or high water, or socialism, or the collapse of the US say they are doing it out of principle.
In truth, I know no such thing. I have no assurance at all that Romney would appoint a man like Roberts. No assurance of that whatsoever. When I look at Romney's history as governor, i.e. Romney care, I shudder in fear.
This tiresome stuff does not change the reality that Obama will appoint a hard left court, Romney and a republican Senate are likely to appoint conservative Justices.
Whether or not Obama needs to be replaced is not even a serious question.
There is very little to be gained by convincing republicans to allow Barack Hussein Obama to be reelected, and a great deal of harm to be done.
I’ll put you down as withholding a vote for Romney.
I don’t trust Romney but I have complete confidence in Obama to appoint justices as bad as Kagan or Sotomayor, or worse. And we can put pressure on Romney to appoint someone reasonable.
Barring divine intervention or MASSIVE voter fraud, Mitt Romney will be the 45th President of the United States. And, it occurred to me that he can be a great President by virtue of the fact that he can bring us out of this deep depression that has been the Obama Administration. Do something to refresh this nation!
I might remind you both that Mr Adams the Younger was elected for one term only, and Mr. Hamilton never.
One might take some advice from them, but with their records of election , the smart man does not take political advice from them.
Obama or Romney, it’s your choice.... and your only choice.
Like I said, I am only voting for Romney because I hate Obama so much. He is a terrible nominee. He should be a dem and be running against Obama. The GOP is not the party of conservatives.
You don't have to do that to vote for Romney.
WRONG. Mr. RomneyCARE is not the GOP candidate yet.
and he will NEVER be our candidate because
he is anti-conservative, anti-Constitution,
pro-Sharia, pro-TARP, and pro-RomneyCARE.
YOU can’t name one thing he is conservative about.
That isn't a choice - it is a distinction without a difference.
[x] None of the Above.
Grow up.
A vote for anyone but Romeny is a half vote for Obama. Enough half votes among the Fool Wing of the Conservative Movement and Obama wins.
You want that?
Sorry, but Romney’s record stinks. I don’t think that there is any reason to believe that he would do any better as president than he did as governor.
