It may come as a surprise to some of her fans, but Carrie Underwood has announced her support for gay marriage.
The devoutly Christian "Jesus, Take the Wheel" country singer spoke out to The Independent on why she believes marriage should be legal for all.
"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry," Underwood, 29, explained. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."
The American Idol winner was raised in a Baptist church, but now attends a non-denominational church with her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher.
"Our church is gay friendly," she said. "Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."
And the Christian star from Oklahoma doesn't agree with "people who use the Bible for hate."
"That's not how I would want myself as a Christian to be represented."

I was just a matter of time before her liberalism reared its ugly head with stupid statement such as this.
Apropos zot graphic for YDR’s pulling a boner of that magnitude.
Hmm, maybe boner is one of those terms which don’t work well any more under their older meaning...
In cases like this...a talented musician that has a recoed of belief suddenly abandoning that belief to embrace the homosexual agenda... leave many wondering why. Allow me to give an explanation.
Musicians are like all artistic types, whether they are CW or heavy metal. They share a common denominator. They require others to help further their career up the ladder. That said, many ‘up the ladder’ are part and parcel of the gay agenda. Now lest you think this is always a case of ‘conform or lose a career’, it isn’t.
Musicians, especially singers are tied to the production side. They can’t just sing and get famous. They require a band behind them or a talented producer (Synth/Pro Tools/sample based production where one man and a computer make ‘the band’). Then there are recording engineers, mixers and a list of other professional types skilled in a particular aspect of music production.
PO those people and your record will have issues.
Now consider that many of them are on board the train to Gayville, or at least helping it along the tracks. The musician, in building the needed professional relationships with these folks, will be working with them 20 hours a day for months at a time. You get ‘close’ to those people and their beliefs ‘rub off’ after a while.
When half the people you work with are either gay or supportive, and you are an artistic type with an ‘open mind’ about many things (pretty much required to BE an artistic type), well, you can see where this goes. After a while, you see this as normal because in your world, it IS normal. But the world of music they inhabit is a bubble, just like any other closely knit ‘society’(for lack of a better term).
You may start out devout. But the vast majority of your ‘world’ is not and their views, again especially under these high pressure/closed conditions, rubs off.
Not saying this is right, good or anything of the sort. Just giving an explanation as to ‘why”.
Does anyone have her twitter account.Afraid to tell my husband,he like her a lot.

Thanks kingattax.
A very reasonable explanation.
But I still attribute it to ignorance of Christ and what she professed to believe. The company she keeps, and the bonds she would make over the years - certainly is a good explanation as to why she would be exposed to this mindset - but if she had understood the faith she professed, and what it stood on, she'd have been more concerned about the eternal destination of the souls of her compatriots rather than being concerned about getting along with them, and winning their praise.
kingattax had posted this info. I’m not a fan of anyone that came off the Idol/Talent shows so I’m clueless as to any of their twitter info.

I don’t disagree at all. But this scenario is the same one we all experience everyday with people we know. They ‘move away’ and so forth for any number of reasons. New friends, political issues, a dipstick for/in a priest/pastor/congregation... and their new crew isn’t so devout as they ... so belief ‘evolves’.
In the case of musicians, it’s more concentrated. In regular life, there’s not that ‘forcing’ to work with so many gay/gay friendly types. And the openmindedness of the artistic leaves them with an entire flank unguarded.
Also, remember one thing. Many of these ‘conversion’ stories are based on the PR that the person involved was a saint to begin with. In reality, CE was probably no more or less ‘devout’ than the average ‘christian’ which is to say, ‘not extremely’.
But her PR people claiming she was makes for compelling backstory targeted to christian record buyers. Is that the case? I can’t say. But it has happened with MANY artists like her before.
Thanks Norm Lenhart.May she kiss one.Never will buy another CD of her’s.
I thought that days ago.
Username with Zapp in it. Apropos that they receive the ozone treatment.
No arguments with either of your posts (183 or 189).
As screwed up as this is, you should hear some of the stories out of the ‘christian music’ world. They would rival some of Motley Crue’s 80’s antics.
I know a girl who was (short version) headed for really very great things in that industry. Let’s just say that she tanked her own career intentionally and kept her faith. Because there was very little ‘christian’ that would have been involved...oh, and this was before she turned 18.

Found her twitter but you can’t post. The forum is strange but I do see one post that got through negative.
Ummm, not anymore, apparently.
Anyone wanna take bets that her album sales mysteriously spike, she suddenly is promoted as the next Dolly Parton, fetted as the belle of the ball...and then her next album UNEXPECTEDLY! tanks, followed by cries of ‘homophobia’?
Eeeeeek! Mustn’t mess with th’ man!
Wonder if she has an album coming out anytime soon?
Thank you...
Racial bigotry has no place on a conservative website. As someone else has said here on Free Republic, we are not to fear those who fear God, regardless of their race.
If this were a board where pro-homosexual people were actually tolerated and allowed to advocate their views, I'd try to engage them in discussion by pointing out that large percentages of many minority groups oppose homosexual “marriage,” and comparing the “gay rights” movement to the civil rights movement is extremely offensive to significant numbers of black pastors. That's even true for black pastors who are fairly liberal on lots of other issues. There is something inherently unnatural about homosexual activity that causes revulsion in most normal people unless they have been completely given over to a depraved mind (cf. Romans 1:28).
Too bad Barack Obama picked the wrong church.
