Jeb Bush Says His Father and Reagan Would Lose Out in Today’s GOP
ABC News ^ | June 11, 2012 | Shushannah Walshe

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush today said that both Ronald Reagan and his father, George H.W. Bush, would have a hard time getting nominated by the more conservative voters in today’s Republican Party.

“Ronald Reagan would have, based on his record of finding accommodation, finding some degree of common ground, as would my dad, they would have a hard time if you define the Republican party, and I don’t, as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement, doesn’t allow for finding some common ground,” Bush said, according to Buzzfeed, which reported Bush’s giving the comments at the headquarters of Bloomberg LP in New York City.

Bush, a much-discussed contender to be Mitt Romney’s running mate, said he sees the ultra-conservative and partisan standards of today’s GOP as “disturbing,” but called “this dysfunction … temporary.”

“It’s just a different environment left and right,” Bush said.

During his “dad’s time and Ronald Reagan’s time,” Bush said, they “got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan support,” according to the report, adding that Reagan “would be criticized for doing the things that he did.”

Hey, Jeb, don’t you dare put your father in the same category as Reagan. Your father couldn’t polish Reagan’s shoes.

Jeb’s probably right about GHWB, since he got elected by fortune of being Ronald Reagan’s VP. But he is dead wrong about Reagan. If not for term limits and Alzheimer’s, Reagan would have been a 4-term president.

There is a big difference between compromising then going back for more and compromising then settling for what you got.

Sad Jeb is apparently too dense to know the difference.

The guy is totally lunatic raving nuts ~ there's no bipartisan anything for several reasons having nothing whatsoever to do with the Republicans.

FIrst reason, the Democrats will not do anything at all without raising taxes or spending more money.

There is no compromise available, not that any Republicans should be anxious to try it, but the Democrats just do not do compromise!

To the Bushes, it is all about amnesty.

And since Reagan signed an amnesty law, they think that he would be rejected nowadays.

However, Reagan did not have past experience when he signed that law, and instead of making things better, it made things worse.

Reagan showed in his history that he learned from his mistakes.

Whereas the Bush clan demands such mistakes be repeated.

This is the second thread, but it allows us a second chance to acknowledge Jeb is an idiot.

Don’t you just love it when RINOs try to explain Conservative matters to you.

Carter, Clinton, the Bushes, folks please shut up. Better to let us just think you’re an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove it.

Jeb is a one issue guy and the issue isn’t “compromise”. He thinks it is his sacred duty to keep American borders open to whoever thew hell wants to cross them because he sleeps with a woman with dark skin. It really is despicable for him to deny lower and middle class Americans opportunities at jobs because of the tone of his wifes skin but that’s what he supports.

Jeb’s father rode Ronald Reagan’s coattails. Bush would never have been President if not for Ronald Reagan. Bush probably threatened Ronald Reagan (prior to election)to gain the vp job. After President Reagan was elected, Bush was probably on the level of a knat. A distraction and nothing more. Of course there was the assassination attempt. Was there a conspiracy?

Either way, how disgracegul.. He should do what his brother does, go away and shut up!
