I don’t think so. He authored a massive immigration bill, cooperated a lot with Tip O’Neill, and had a change of heart over abortion after signing it into legality as a governor of California in the late ‘60s.

I think many FReepers would call him a RINO were he around today, and that makes me sad.

Yeah - but that was when the Republicans hadn’t had control of the House for thirty years, and there were people you could work with who were Democrats.

Even then, the Democrats made deals with Reagan and then reneged on their side of the deal.

Today bipartisanship is less possible because now the only good Democrat is a former Democrat.

Funny how the turds just sink lower in the bowl as time passes. I was reminded today that the 1991 "luxury tax" on yachts, which cost about 20,000 middle class jobs in exchange for virtually no revenue increase at all, was the brainchild of dickhead Bush 41, not Clinton as is commonly believed.
