US Weekly is the latest media outlet to withdraw an article about the Obamas. Friday evening, the celebrity gossip magazine posted an article online entitled Sasha Obama Hosts 11th Birthday Party at Red Robin.
The article has since been pulled, but the URL with the title remains in Google search: http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/sasha-obama-hosts-11th-birthday-party-at-red-robin-201286. Clicking through gives this message from US: "OOPS! The page youre looking for isnt here. But dont give up!", followed by instructions to use their search engine.
The text of the pulled article read:
Sasha Obama is excited about turning 11 -- so much so that the First Daughter celebrated the occasion several days early at Red Robin in Dulles, Virginia!
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's youngest daughter -- whose actual birthday is June 10 -- joined her mother, 48, older sister Malia, 13, and 10 friends for a low-key birthday bash last week, Us Weekly can confirm.

The group dined on a variety of items, including chicken sandwiches, cheeseburgers with avocado and milkshakes. "Before leaving the restaurant, the First Lady left a generous tip for the server and tapped management on the shoulder to let them know 'everything was wonderful and the girls had a great time,'" a source adds.

The girls' father, Barack, 50, was not in attendance -- not that he wasn't there in spirit. He's currently in the midst of a reelection campaign, and on June 7, the former Illinois senator met with 25 young Hollywood stars -- including Jessica Alba, 31, Zachary Quinto, 35, DiannaAgron, 26, Ian Somerhalder, 33, and Sophia Bush, 29 -- at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

"Just spent my morning with [POTUS] talking about green energy, a better America and being a young American," Vampire Diaries star Somerhalder tweeted. "Wow."

The article was picked up last night by Yahoo! Movies and was online there as of this writing.
The Obama administration has successfully cowed the media into disappearing articles about public travels by the Obama children this year. Articles about eldest daughter Malia's Mexico vacation with classmates from Sidwell Friends school were taken down under pressure for alleged security and privacy reasons. Last month articles and a photograph about Malia attending a One Direction concert in Fairfax, Virginia, were similarly pulled. Now this article about Sasha's birthday party at a public restaurant accompanied by her mother, the First Lady.
The Obamas pick and choose when they want their daughters in the spotlight. In February, the Obama reelection campaign started running Web ads featuring Sasha and Malia with their parents.

The Obama campaign is selling campaign buttons and refrigerator magnets with the same photo of the Obama children with their parents. The image is a taxpayer funded photograph taken by official White House photographer Pete Souza.
What could I do - he was always in my face re: the right end of the scale.
We are currently at truce...or maybe detente. I'm not sure.
I have NO idea....never paid any attention to the kids other than their DAMN TRIPS that cost us MILLIONS!!!! Wouldn’t recogonize them if they came to my door.

Letterman joked about Palins 14 yr old daughter getting raped in the middle of a baseball field. The media laughed about it.
If this had been about the Bush daughters, it would have been a yawner.
The problem seems to be the relatively decadent fare. Michelle has been preaching against such diets. Can’t show her up for a hypocrite can we?
Agreed. I have no issue with the media pulling a story about a birthday party for a little girl whether the parents requested it or not.
Now that tap is one I'd be afraid of.
The kids aren't the ones responsible for an over the top, lavish party on the taxpayer dollar, nor are the kids responsible for pressuring the press not to report it. No one is blaming the kids. The focus is on their spendthrift parents, our First Couple.
This is an example of Barry and Mooch's royalty complex. It can't be reported without mentioning the details--namely the kids.
This is the same media who got Jack Ryan’s divorce records unsealed.
Note the Obama Admin didn’t even try to stop the now notorious leak articles.
Yep. Leave the kids out.
Help me out here. Can you tell me how this isn’t a completely liberal mindset? Because it sure as hell looks like one.
I think you’re right

I thought Barry claimed his kids didn’t have birthday parties.
US Weekly is owned and run by Jann Wenner....same guy who runs Rolling Stone and one of the heads of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Obama has been on the cover of Rolling Stone 7 times (no joke).
Wenner is a personal friend of Obama’s...your answer to why and how it got pulled is probably right there. Wenner probably got tipped off that it was there on his own site and didn’t know about it.
One article, dubbed this as RR party was a *low-key* event.
Well....The Obamas spent last weekend in Paris, where Sasha celebrated her birthday a few days early. She went shopping at childrens store Bonpoint and saw the sights of Paris!
Just in case anyone thinks The Husseins are *one of us. *
Oh RLY? Well, of the whole population of Sidwell at their disposal, the Husseins couldn't find any token white kids or other minorites to accompany them?
Speaks volumes.
