Scott Walker: Obama’s Comments Reflect a Fundamental Misunderstanding of the Economy
The Weekly Standard ^ | 6-8-12 | Stephen Hayes

Posted on 06/09/2012 5:54:11 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Much has been made of Barack Obama’s comment Friday morning that the “private sector is doing fine.” The mockery is well-deserved.

The president's comment this morning has the potential to be one of those remarks that penetrates deeply into the electorate, well beyond those who keep track of the day-to-day contours of the presidential campaign. The private sector, of course, is not doing fine. GDP growth is 1.9 percent—and slowing. The private sector is adding jobs at a rate that barely outpaces population growth—and slowing. Major corporations are sitting on their cash rather than spending it, consumer confidence is down, so is productivity—no president should be satisfied with this private sector performance.

Pick your cliché—tone deaf, out of touch, etc—they all work.

Beyond that, the president lamented the end to the expansion of the public sector the same week voters in Wisconsin and, somewhat surprisingly, California made clear that they approve of efforts to reduce the size of that sector.

“Where we're seeing weakness in our economy have (sic) to do with the state and local government, often times cuts initiated by governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government,” Obama said. “And who don't have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.”

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Obama’s comments reflect a fundamental misunderstanding of the economy.

“There are two very different views in the country,” Walker said. “The current administration seems to think that success is measured by how many people are dependent on the government. I think success is measured by how many are not.”

“Wisconsin governor Scott Walker tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Obama’s comments reflect a fundamental misunderstanding of the economy.”

And Scott Walker’s comments reflect a fundamental misunderstand of who and what Obama is:

A full blown MARXIST who hates this country and western civilization and who is SUCCEEDING WONDERFULLY in destroying it the way he said he would.

Until the chowderheads get that straight, we are at a severe disadvantage.

“The current administration seems to think that success is measured by how many people are dependent on the government. I think success is measured by how many are not.”

Socialism that controls individuals from cradle-to-grave OR free individuals that can pursue their dreams.

Leftism ALWAYS fails - economically. See history and current events.

Leftism ALWAYS fails morally - responsible for 200 million deaths in 20th century.

Only pure evil or an "intellectual" would be dumb enough to choose leftism.

economy success should be judged by how productive society is, not by the flawed GDP calculation which include government spending

“Until the chowderheads get that straight, we are at a severe disadvantage.”

I’m not holding my breath waiting for the Republican establishment to start talking about the real issues and going straight to Obama’s vulnerability. If the Democrats had treated Nixon the way the Republican establishment treats Obama, Nixon would have enjoyed two full terms.

I smell 1980 in the wind.

The polls at this time that cycle had Carter up on Reagan by 12-15 points. We know what happened. My sense is Romney in a landslide.

The media has only a short time to get right with the incoming administration...they have the summer to choose Obama or real neutrality...hope they choose well.

Go to BUZZ FEED and see Lanny Davis of the Clinton camp doing a smackdown of the nazis in the Obama campaign. The Dems begin to meltdown.

Exactly.

Obama never said he was “for” free enterprise, small business, private property, etc., etc.

During his whole campaign, and, as far as we can tell of the completely supressed details of his entire life, he never espoused any other ideals other than racism, communism and anarchy, and his entire political ascension appears to have only been influenced by people with those same beliefs, and the only other links in his early career were to guys like Rezko, the convicted felon.

Even wikipedia paints a picture of Tony Rezko that would, one would think, make his donations political poison.

But somehow with Zero, none of his past or his political career matters.

An “I resent the implication that Poland is under Soviet domination” (Gerald R. Ford) and “I have consulted my daughter Amy about nuclear disarmament” (Jimbo Carter) moment. Fortunately, it’s on tape for future use in ads. In fact, the IIC (Imbecile in Chief) has provided a gold mine of such clips which we can only hope are being collected for effective use this year. Ridicule and laughter are to narcissistic Liberals what garlic and silver are to a vampire.

In all fairness, Mr. Obama has been out taking the pulse of the folks beyond the beltway and from what he has seen they are doing just fine...
