Is Bobby Jindal being vetted by the Romney camp? He won’t say he is, won’t say he isn’t

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has enjoyed endorsements from influential conservatives who want to see him on the ballot with Mitt Romney in November, but he won't divulge if he's being considered.

After a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Chicago Friday, Jindal declined to answer when asked specifically if Romney's campaign is vetting him for the job.

"When it comes to the whole VP question, look, I've got the job that I want. I'm not going to speculate on what Gov. Romney's going to do," Jindal told reporters. "I'm not going to comment on his process the same way four years ago I didn't comment on any of the speculation back then. All I'm going to say is that I look forward to supporting whoever Governor Romney selects to be on his ticket."

Compare the response to recent comments from Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell,

Christie would surprise a lot of people on this website. Its a lot harder being a sucessful Conservative governor of a liberal state than most FReepers seem to realize.

As someone else pointed out, LA is solidly red. If Romney was going to pick Jindal, Christie makes more sense politically.

Romney is going to pick a gov or ex gov. I live in NYC area. Christie is more a loudmouth. Jindal is better IMHO

Better is a relative thing in politics. A governor who can deliver LA doesn’t help the ticket. A Southern Governor does, but it remains to be seen wether an Indian (dots not feathers) Catholic plays Dixie. Meanwhile, what happened this week in Wisconsin should help Christie’s stature (no pun intended). Personally, I like them both. Sure Christie’s a loudmouth -He’s from Jersey. But he’s OUR loudmouth. And the left hates him. The left has no opinion of Jindal, unless it’s that he’s not ready for prime time.

“NBC?”

Nope not qualified. Romney can’t be that stupid. We don’t need the bruhaha that will start up if he tries to put an ineligible candidate on the ballot. Not gonna happen.

I like Bob McDonnell, Governor of Virginia, a lot!

Compare a winner like Bobby to a whiner like Obama.

Bobby is one of our best and brightest- we, and he, needn’t be in a hurry to put him in federal office. He’ll get there when it’s time, and he’ll be all the more experienced and practiced when he does.

First time in the spotlight. No, he is not a natural performer like the Senator from Florida—or Obama.

Fiscal socialist colluded in the Louisiana purchase that made Obamacare happen. Jindal is a fraud. The only thing he is good at is smooth-talking. He outdid Hussein on this front during the Gulf oil spill.

Jindal reminds me of Calvin Coolidge, at least in his political abilities. If he had been governor at the time of Katrina, instead of that cypher Blanco, George Bush would not have ended up with egg on his face. Jindal knows how to get things done.

I am a big supporter of Gov Jindal, but I would be surprised if he would accept. He seems like he understands that as a current governor, his commitment is to the people of his state. Hopefully someday he will run on a more national level though.

Rather see a real Conservative VP than a RINO VP.
Rubio is ok but his soft amnesty support is troubling.

Who would have thought a race for Pres and VP in 2012 could be a Mormon and a Catholic Gov of a Southern state almost from India vs a Kenyan and a Moron?

I’ll never forget his ‘Republican rebuttle’.. ARGH, IT WAS THE WORST COMMENTARY I HAVE EVER SEEN!

Get over it already.

It was one speech (which nobody else wanted to give).

Bobby is young and maturing rapidly. He presents himself much differently today than he did that one night.

Jindal is much more of an across-the-board conservative than is Christie.

To sweeten your description remember that Jindal is a converted Hindu.

So it would be a Mormon Bishop son of a Mexican born man, and a converted Hindu conceived in India by Indian parents, versus a converted(?) Muslim son of a Kenyan man, and a Catholic.

A MORMON Bishop has somehow become the choice of Christians to defend the concept that the bible is clear that marriage is between ONE woman, and one man, weird stuff.

It best not happens for Republicans chances. The eligibility issue of both Jindal and Rubio would not serve Romney very well in spite of the opinions of some people that our Constitution does not have birthplace and/or parents citizenship requirements. Too many people are dedicated more to the Founders Constitutional intentions for POTUSA than for expediency for votes.
