Thanks, Cindy, for today’s music and assorted videos for the troops to enjoy. ((HUGS))

I've had a long hard day since 4:30 this AM and I'm very tired having applied waterproofing to the back yard steps and Mike's playhouse, tilled a patch of garden for more corn and mowed two lawns in two states. I'm headed for dreamland, but I hope to return tomorrow with a small tribute to my one-time pal Bob Welch who passed away yesterday in Nashville. He never really attracted the fame he deserved and is known best for his work with Fleetwood Mac as the American lead guatarist who bridged the period between Peter Green and Lindsy Buckingham from 1971 until 1974. He had a few hits of his own, was a fine songwriter, a tortured soul and he'll be missed. RIP Bob.

Johannes Brahms was hired to take over and reorganize the Ladies Chorus with the slogan
Fix oder nix. Up to snuff or nothing. Although he really needed the money, he turned down the salary because it would sully the experience. Jo first led his new charges through his Ave Maria which they passed with flying colors. Then he wrote something especially for the girls. This has a taste of Bach to it.
Brahms: Psalm 13", Op. 27
The girls all fell in love with him. They gushed over the smallest kind word. Had Hamburg been in France, or had Brahms been a totally dissolute cad like Liszt, he could have bedded his way through the entire choir.
Biographer Jan Swafford thought that Jo might have bedded one or two of the ladies, but from writings in Brahms later years it doesnt appear to be so. Brahms would fall in love with virgins, but he would only bed professionals.
Brahms turned medieval Marian poetry into the Mary Songs, set a capella for the girls. In these songs, there is only a little hint of current German music. Its Brahms taking a cut at Palestrina and Gesualdo.
Brahms: The Angels Greeting, Op. 22/1
Brahms: The Hunter, Op. 22/4
Brahms: Prayer to Mary, Op. 22/5

Will do, Publius - thanks very much - Brahms is one of my faves! If we weren't under such a crunch at work, I would remain much later tonight. You're doing a magnificent job, FRiend!
