Personal comments on the race: I'll Have Another was very impressive in winning the Preakness in that he was able to catch and pass quality speedster Bodemeister, *despite* Bodemeister having slowed the pace down considerably --the half was two full seconds slower than the Derby! ...two seconds is a lifetime in horse racing.
Dullahan, a consistent and quality closer, had problems at the break in the Derby and also was bumped, yet still closed a lot of ground in the stretch missing by less than 2 lengths. Serious contender here.
Union Rags, another excellent closer, also had problems in the Derby (neither him nor Dullahan ran in Preaknesss). He was 'squeezed' and had to take up, yet was beaten only 7 lengths by the winner, I'll Have Another.
Newcomer/longshot "Unstoppable U", undefeated in only 2 starts, will likely set the pace in the Belmont. Speed holds up better than most people expect in this marathon 1-1/2 mile event.

I'll have another is a lock.....the racing industry NEEDS a triple crown winner. The recent rules regarding where and who sees the horse the last week before the race is the indicator

I'll have another is a lock... But didn't that seem the case in recent past Triple Crowns? Smarty Jones won the Derby, the Preakness by 11 lengths! and somehow managed to lose the Belmont. There were a few other such examples in the past 20 or so years of horses winning the first two legs only to fail in the Belmont. Remember Big Brown?

If anyone knows the person who does the racing ping list, please ping him to this thread. Thanks.

I am glad I don’t bet on sports racing - I have no idea what any of those charts mean.

I feel compelled to post this comment.
I’ve only bet maybe 15 times on horse races. The first few times I studied the forms, history, mudders, long runs, etc.
Strangely enough I found that the names that appealed to me most were more likely to win than the stats suggested.
If I’d been inclined (and had the $ to burn) I would have gone with “I’ll Have Another” in every race. Thinking about tomorrow ... except he’s (?) a favorite which rarely pans out ... ;-)

I just heard I'll have Another has been scratched from the race. Wow! I thought you were joking! Just heard it myself. He's apparently injured.

Heard I’ll have Another has been withdrawn. Too bad; but I would do the same to protect him for breeding stock.

Agreed.
BTW, a Dullahan/Union Rags exacta might pay $12 or more. In other words, a $20 ex would return $120. That ain’t bad, especially considering the strong likelihood that they’ll finish one-two with I’ll Have Another out. An exacta reverse would be a pretty good bet here, imo.

Searching on jockey stats I found the link below which covers the top horses, breeders, owners, trainers and jockeys in nice sortable lists and is up to date ...

A top jock can make a difference ... just FYI ... YMMV ;-)
