When I was looking at Grad schools several years back, I met with the Graduate Director at one of universities. When the topic of choosing an adviser came up, she told to to look at RateMyProfessor.com, as it was a valuable tool.

I don't go to that university, nor would I recommend that college to anyone.

Most to my colleagues don't bother reading student reviews. I personally flip through them while giving minimal thought.

You have to consider the source. Negative reviews are from someone who has done poorly in the course, so you are dealing with someone who is both immature and lazy. Neither quality makes someone you should base your opinions about yourself on.

Just like product reviews that are available on any number of web sites. The 99+% of people that are satisfied don't bother to say anything.
