Emails That Romney Tried to Hide Are Revealed
ABC News ^ | 5 June 2012 | Matt Negrin

Posted on 06/05/2012 2:51:31 PM PDT by Erik Latranyi

Once-secret emails from Mitt Romney's time as governor that were revealed today spurred a flurry of comments about the candidate's support for the so-called individual mandate. Yet there's another issue that's been revived: Romney's secrecy.

When Romney left the governor's office in Massachusetts, his staff erased all the emails from a computer server and bought the hard drives used to store data, so that their correspondence would stay hidden.

Or so they thought.

Tom Trimarco, Romney's administration and finance secretary, never deleted his emails. Some of them surfaced today in The Wall Street Journal, which submitted a public information request for emails involving Trimarco and officials in the administration.

The emails show that Romney was neck-deep in negotiations to get his health care bill passed, that he personally wrote op-eds about it, and that he defended the so-called individual mandate to buy health insurance, a provision in President Obama's law that has drawn criticism from Republicans.

unless you love in california or New york,

I have loved in California, on a beach, at sundown, with sand getting in the fiddly bits... But I have never loved in New York. And today, those days are long over.

No sale. No vote for Romney.

I'll be voting for Virgil Goode. He won't carry MA, but then again neither will ex-MA governor Mitt Romney.

Choosing between the lesser of two evils, I'll take the third guy -- the guy who likes the Constitution.

” . Vote for another “third party” candidate in the presidential race. THIS VOTE WILL BE 100 PERCENT NEUTRAL in influencing whether O or R wins. THAT IS A MATHEMATICAL FACT.”

Your math is jacked if you are referring to me. A vote for Romney is a vote for Romney. No vote for Romney is no vote for Romney. How difficult to understand? I apologize if your post was not geared towards me.. if not, you are wrong. I learned this math in 2nd grade. Apples and oranges..

Sorry. I misunderstood.

I will move forward, ever forward and hold life sacred. Along with holding freedoms sacred, and working toward the ideal of minimal government.

I don't expect to win, or make a big splash. But you can pretty much count on me to not kill any unborn children.

And you can expect that I'll be the poor bastard out in the field singing "Work, for the night is coming"

FRiend, you're on the right website, alright. Right now, it's all and only about Obama. It's the ONLY thing most Republicans are thinking about, and it's the ONLY reason they are willing to ignore their better judgment and vote FOR a documented, proven amoral authoritarian statist like Romney (please LOOK AT HIS RECORD). They are only thinkng about Obama, which is what they intend to vote against. That's all and only what it's about right now -- what you want to vote AGAINST.

But come summer of 2014, if Romney wins, Obama will be completely forgotton, the dust of history, and the ONLY thing that will matter wil be what you voted FOR.

LOOK AT ROMNEY'S RECORD: He has actively used his political office to advance the FIVE MAJOR agendas of liberalsim: state-run health care, abortion on demand, the homosexual agenda, activist liberal judges, and cap-and-trade global warming ecotyranny. THAT IS A FACT. That is what ABO people are voting FOR, and what you voted FOR is all --all that will matter by the end of 2013.

That is why I'll be voting FOR weakening whichever socialist wins so that he will be easier for limited government conservative Republicans to fight and dominate, whether it is Obama or Romney -- and understand that Romney will fight limited government conservative Republicans harder than he will fight Democrats, if he becomes president. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU'RE VOTING FOR BECAUSE IN THE END, THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS. Obama is a narcissist who has convinced himself of his own omnipotence. Judging by your tagline, he has also convinced YOU.

ABO is setting you up to be manipulated in a HUGE way: LOOK AT ROMNEY'S RECORD.

If you are truly familiar with Romney's record, then you ARE willing to vote FOR cyanide because you lack the courage to confront arsenic.

An absent vote is a 0. A vote for Romney is a +1. A +1 is better than a 0. Don’t know how to explain it any more simple.. go to your voting booth!

“I second that.”

Well then, you are the second fool on this thread. Congratulations!!!"

I'll be third (unless someone beat me to it). Third to agree, that is. If you feel you have to resort to ad hominem attacks to support your candidate, that should tell you something about the guy.

In effect, Conservatives who don't vote for Romney help Obama.

No -- conservatives who vote third party hurt both Romney AND Obama and HELP the limited government conservative Republicans who will have to fight whichever one wins the White House.

Frankly, I am -- as my vote will be -- entirely neutral about whether Obama or Romney wins; both are BAD FOR AMERICA. Fear of Obama has made people blind to the very real and powerful danger of Romney, who holds conservatives and limited government principle in contempt. THINK about the consequences if THAT guy wins on a majority.

The GOP Elite, moderate Republicans, and Romney would CROW that "moderate" won a mandate, and that conservative Republicans should sit down and shut up because the only reason the GOP even has the White House is because of moderate Republicans -- and a whole lotta weak Republicans in Congress would do JUST THAT because they wanted to be perceived as Team Players.

Two years into Romney's term, conservative Republicans would be embattled from TWO sides, whereas if Obama is re-elected on a slim plurality, conservative Republicans would have the upper hand, in part because they wouldn't be fighting Romney, and in part because moderate Republicans in the party would be moving hard RIGHT after seeing Romney lose.

Obama is NOT an all-powerful Oz, but he, the MSM, and Chicken Little Republicans have good people in such a panic believing that "the sky is falling" that we are on the brink of sabotaging our ONE source of opposition to statism by electing a full-blown statist (look at his record, for crying out loud!) as the most powerful Republican in the country.

Romney would be brutal on limited government conservatives in the Republican party and by the spring of 2014, ABO people would be wailing: "But we didn't mean to vote for this!" as they watched helplessly as Republicans either supported or declined to oppose Romney's progressive "solutions" to "global warming," health care, and homosexuals demanding that we accept them openly everyhwere from our kids' schools and scouting troops, to our U.S. military.

Again, look at Romney's record. He has advanced ALL the main things most of us have been voting Republican all these years to oppose -- voting for him is NUTS. Plain nuts. The price of Romney is WAY too steep.

Voting for Romney to avoid Obama is making a deal with the devil. A deal with the devil is ALWAYS a losing proposition.

Better to have the courage to face AND BEAT DOWN a despised Obama made weaker than ever in a second term.

See post #68 and #69 for the 'it doesn't matter who you vote for' meme.

Hang around and I'll be the sole reason for the failure of the Republic.

A mean old barstid just can't win.

not voting for Mitt is a de facto vote for Obama.

Prove it mathematically. Show me how a third party vote is a vote for Obama.

Go ahead.

Or you could save yourself some time and embarassment and admit that the ONLY reason you make such a nonsensical declaration is because you are angry that your candidate isn't actually ENTITLED to my vote, though you think he should be.

Nice backtracking there. Thanks for stopping with the fallacy that "if you don't vote for Romney it's the same as voting for Obama."

By the way, my vote won't be absent. I have a DUTY to vote. I am going to use my vote to set up the best scenario I can for all the limited government conservative Republicans I hope are swept into Congress: to make it so whichever government statist wins the White House -- and I WASH MY HANDS of having any part of deciding whether arsenic or cyanide wins -- enters office as weak and diluted as possible.

When you vote "against" Obama by voting for Romney, you will be voting FOR more and bigger government. PERIOD. That is a fact.

Don't know how to explain it any more simply.

"Vote for Obama. Go for it!!"

Right, that's another of the official memes. It's nonsense.

Look, you know how liberal Romney is. Did you expect conservatives would fall in line the way the GOP-s wants us to? Didn't you think there would be some who just could not go so far as to vote for Willard? You can't really be that shocked.

No, the only fool on this thread is the one who thinks that withholding a vote from Romney is the equivalent of voting for Obama.

Isn't it interesting that the hair-on-fire crowd considers it nearly treason for conservatives to actually vote.....conservative?

Sure, let's fight tyrannical liberalism by replacing the current uber-lib with another lib. Have you ever seen anything quite as nuts as this?

I'm all for facing the situation squarely, and admitting that we're in one helluva pickle, but I'm not going to try to fool myself or anyone else by putting lipstick on that pig.
