Arthur Davis was first elected to Congress from Alabama in 2002. The Harvard Law School grad was quickly tapped as a rising star among Democrats. He became a Senior Whip for the caucus, co-chair the New Democrat Coalition and even headed up the Southern region for the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee. His eight years in Congress showed him to be a thoughtful, independent and energetic member. Yesterday, he announced he is now a Republican.

[ Yes, both are too liberal for my tastes, but if the Democrats start losing people like them it underscores how radical and statist the Democrats have become. (Besides both Ronald Reagan and John Stossel started out as liberals.) ]
Yes, and some of the most Staunch Conservatives/Classical Libertarians are former liberals who when young bought the line that “we only want to help people” and they wake up and those people are far more “commited” to the conservative free market cause cause they have lived on the other side and have seen ALL the dirty laundry from that side.

Yep, those are the beggining signs alright. gateway signs to conservatism. ]
Yeah, Free thinking and rational thought are the gateway drugs of conservatism, ask John Stossel.

Now I wonder how long it will take Cory Booker to make the same change. Yes, both are too liberal for my tastes...
So are about 60% of Republican officeholders, for mine.

Yay. Now there is room for more. The GOP has a big tent, and all are welcome, if you don’t mind the RINOs charging around. Time to turn JFK’s picture to the wall, folks, along the BHO’s, and turn Abe Lincoln’s back facing the room. Welcome back, freedmen.

I think I saw him on a Fox special on voter fraud. He explained that if you wanted to do it, it was easy. I was surprised to hear he was a democrat. Now it makes sense that he has changed parties. He was exposing what they do to steal elections, and from that maybe he did some soul searching. I wish him the best in his new state. Virginia needs to turn red as is its legacy of Williamsburg and other places of our nascent country.

Unless hes added the letter h to his name, its Artur Davis, not Arthur Davis. That's correct. He's written essays for National Review Online recently, so his switch to the GOP is not a complete surprise.

Which is why we’ll need a scorecard to sort out the “good” RINOs from the “bad” ones. If the GOP is to be the dominant political party for a generation or two we’ll need to be a fairly big tent.

It's not clear in the posted article, but Artur Devis is a
former congressman. So his party switch doesn't gain the GOP an additional seat - at least for now.
According to his blog, Davis is now registering as a Republican in Virginia and is considering running for a House seat from Virginia in 2014 or 2016.
To: Justaham
The last few times I saw him interviewed I thought he was awesome, and then puzzled when they showed a “D” behind his name.

Davis will now be subjected to vile attacks, be labeled an Uncle Tom, GOP house n****r, and working on Massas plantation. Yeah, yeah, I've been called all that and worse, but really, my name's not Davis. Thanks.
