The president referred to Polish death camps while awarding a posthumous Medal of Freedom to Polish professor Jan Karski, a hero of the anti-Nazi resistance. Poles believe they're blamed unfairly for the Nazi Holocaust, and the Foreign Minister led the outrage in a late night tweet.
The remark, which barely drew notice in America, is all over the Polish news today. On the country's largest television station:

Whatever...
He stated he was born in Kenya as have other Kenyans.
I think we have a mole at the White House who hacks the teleprompter at the last minute and throws in all these hysterical moments.
Well that guarantees that I am off of the fence this election....ABO!
Just ask Gerald Ford what happened in 1976, when he had his faux pas regarding the Poles.
No words to express my disgust exist in regards to the sheer stupidity, ignorance, and incompetence shown by this man.
And, in reading the updates at the very bottom of the article... For anyone to say he “misspoke” and it was a “misstatement” is naive.
As for Obama’s actions that supposedly demonstrate a “rock solid” devotion to the US’s close alliance with Poland - what does he take us for? As if Polish people both here and in Poland DON’T remember what he has said to Medvedev through an *accidentally* OPEN MIC in re: to the missile defense shields for Europe?
Actually, to be honest, I’m surprised Obama even recognizes that there was a holocaust to begin with! After all, with his connections to the Muslim Brotherhood through SO MANY of the people he has *worked* with through his life, he was probably taught that it WASN’T the NAZIs!
Yeah, Obama “misspoke” alright - just like he “misspoke” about “my Muslim religion”.
Must have been the Choom talking..
>> Why would the Obama team intend to insult the Poles in this manner? <<
Maybe trying to score points with Putin?
It pains me to think of how many choomers and unwashed in this country believe there were Polish death camps if they’ve even ever heard of death camps or some place called Poland to begin with.
It’s hard to be regarded as an idiot if all your followers are just as dumb.
“The man is a moron.”
I could use other language, but being banned is not high on my to-do list.
So sad that this incompetent fool has turned something which should have been a day of celebration, pride, and commemoration.
Thank you for the detail in your post. What an honor it must be to meet a man like Mr. Korbanski. I recently watched a documentary about the Warsaw uprising, and my respect for those men and women who fought on despite receiving no aid from Russia, and no supplies, etc... I can’t express my awe in regards to their dedication to stand firm despite the incredible hardships, and suffering.
I have done a lot of research into Polish history as both sides of my husband’s family immigrated from Poland, and can trace our lineage back quite far *back home*. I am continually amazed at the perseverance, courage, and dedication of Poles throughout history.
I am VERY proud to carry the surname I do now, and Obama’s words and actions today - along with his *non-apology* apology make me extremely upset with sadness and anger.
We have (we believe - yet to be confirmed through genealogical sources) members of our own family listed by Vad Yashem as having been murdered trying to hide a family of Jewish neighbors under their barn - a mother, and a 4-year-old girl shot, their father remains unaccounted for to this day.
This hits home for me in a very real way. My disgust is literally making me sick to my stomach. I’ll tell you one thing I know - Poles KNOW Fascism and Communism first hand, and if Obama is trying to propagandize these people he is even more of a fool than I thought.
The spokesperson for the WH that gave a statement to Buzzfeed said in response to this that Obama’s actions have shown a “rock-solid commitment” to the US and Poland’s “close alliance”. Has he forgotten what he told Medvedev about the Missile Defense shields just two months ago? I can guarantee you none of us - and none of the people in Poland have forgotten. He really should save his platitudes for the imbeciles who are still fawning over him.
[Sorry for the *rant* - thanks again for sharing the information about Mr. Karski, and Mr. Korbanski. I will be passing along the names of both of these great men to my children the next time we discuss these things...]
“On Sept 30, 1939, Poland invaded Germany, or something like that.
Was that before or after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”
I think that came after George Bush invaded Cambodia to get at Big Cambodian Oil. Had someting to do with the Koch brothers, according to my lib a hell brother in law.

What do people expect? World War II history had a different slant in Indonesian schools.
How did this guy get accepted into Harvard?
Betcha it was a ‘Minority’ thing. The guy got in, not for his academic qualifications, but solely for the color of his skin. And it shows! Disgusting.
SS guards in the death camps who looked the other way... the officer in the Second SS Panzer Division who allowed a bus load of French civilians to escape into the fields rather than driving them to their deaths as "terrorists" in the days after D-Day...the Gestapo agent who "overlooked" a stash of moldy potatoes that meant life or death to a Jewish couple in Dresden...the list goes on, like signs of life in the desert.
Why not? He’s apologized to everyone else.
another reminder why the Noble Peace prize is a joke...
Irena Sendler v. Al Gore
http://www.merlinsilk.com/2009/09/04/irena-sendler-v-al-gore/
Irena Sendler, born in 1910, was raised by her Catholic parents to respect and love people regardless of their ethnicity or social status. Her father, a physician, died from typhus that he contracted during an epidemic in 1917. He was the only doctor in his town near Warsaw who would treat the poor, mostly Jewish victims of this tragic disease. As he was dying, he told 7-year-old Irena, “If you see someone drowning you must try to rescue them, even if you cannot swim.” In 1939 the Nazis swept through Poland and imprisoned the Jews in ghettos where they were first starved to death and then systematically murdered in killing camps. Irena, by than a social worker in Warsaw, saw the Jewish people drowning and resolved to do what she could to rescue as many as possible, especially the children. Working with a network of other social workers and brave Poles, mostly women, she smuggled 2,500 children out of the Warsaw ghetto and hid them safely until the end of the war. Sendler took great risks - obtaining forged papers for the children, disguising herself as an infection control nurse, diverting German occupation funds for the support of children in hiding. She entered the Warsaw ghetto, sometimes two and three times a day, and talked Jewish parents into giving up their children. Sendler drugged the babies with sedatives and smuggled them past Nazi guards in gunny sacks, boxes and coffins. She helped the older ones escape through the sewers, through secret openings in the wall, through the courthouse, through churches, any clever way she and her network could evade the Nazis. Once outside the ghetto walls, Sendler gave the children false names and documents and placed them in convents, orphanages and with Polish families. In 1942 the Polish underground organization ZEGOTA recruited her to lead their Children’s Division, providing her with money and support. Her hope was that after the war she could reunite the children with surviving relatives, or at least return their Jewish identities. To that end she kept thin tissue paper lists of each child’s Jewish name, their Polish name and address. She hid the precious lists in glass jars buried under an apple tree in the back yard of one of her co-conspirators. In 1943 Irena Sendler was arrested, tortured and sentenced to death by firing squad. She never divulged the location of the lists or her Polish underground contacts. At the last moment she was saved by ZEGOTA which bribed a guard to secure her freedom. She still bears the scars and disability of her torture.
Ten million Saudi petro dollars to found a chair for "Arab American" studies can buy all sorts of minor favors.
When it comes to whorehouses, Skip Gates's Harvard is one of the best there is.
Obama used the term "Polish death camp"Poles are extremely sensitive to that - and I agree with them. The Germans came here, set up death camps (and half of the victims were non-Jewish Poles, while remember that many of the Jews killed were Poles too -- integrated in Polish society) and then the present-day Poles are told they were "Polish death camps"? sheesh. Obama should know better.Chodziło o nazistowski obóz przejściowy w Izbicy, do którego Karski również się przedostał w przebraniu strażnika. -- it was a transit camp run by Nazis in Izbicy, from where Karski escaped disguised as a guard
Call them for what they were -- Nazi camps or German camps. Poland didn't exist -- the Nazis aimed to wipe the country and it's people off the map.
