The 'This is Spinal Tap' star was taken to St. Lukes Hospital in critical condition, fire officials said.
Laverne & Shirley star Michael McKean was injured when he was struck by a car on the upper West Side Tuesday afternoon, police sources said.
McKean, 64, a New York City native who played Lenny on the hit television show, was seen bleeding from the head after a car barreled into him at W. 86th St. and Broadway just before 3 p.m., witnesses and the FDNY said.

Please pray. Reports are of broken leg
Played the character Morris Fletcher on at least one episode of The Lone Gunmen. But his role in This is Spinal Tap is hard to top.
Best wishes Michael. We could all use more of your talent. Prayers and good thoughts.
“Lenny”
I enjoyed him in “Coneheads”.
(Or anthing else.)
“Lenny” is 64? Oh, my. Hope he recovers soon.
I wish him a speedy recovery and shall pray for him.
“””Certainly. Short Circuit 2. Critics didnt think much of it, but it was fun.”””””
How ironic that I bought Short Circuit Two this weekend at Half Price books and watched it last night.
Best of luck to Michael.
Henry the Penguin (voiced by David Lander AKA Squiggy) - Oswald's downstairs neighbor and best friend. A persnickety penguin, Henry is a creature of habit in every way and usually shuns the idea of trying different things, though he can sometimes be persuaded otherwise.
He does his best to maintain a rigid schedule, which includes taking care of his extensive spoon collection, ending every evening watching "Penguin Patrol", his favorite TV show, and doing the Penguin Polka before bedtime. Most of Henry's favorite foods are fish-flavored and he is a proven expert on snow.
He has an identical cousin from the North named Louie (voiced by Michael McKean AKA Lenny), and on occasion speaks of an Aunt Arctica. His motto is "slow and steady". He always takes two (used to be three) marshmallows in his hot cocoa, saying "No more, no less". He also hates getting wet.
Aw, come one. Lenny and Squiggy were lovable characters. Dumb as a box of rocks.
Just going by what the article states. The police do not suspect the driver. So why should we.
No criminality was suspected in the smash-up, police said.
One has to assume there were witnesses that spoke to the police. This is NYC after all. People are everywhere.
As far as the mailbox being knocked over; the driver may have jerk the wheel at the last moment in trying to avoid hitting McKean.
My only point is that the reporter is using inflammatory words when the police are saying they have so far determined that the driver was not at fault.
Best wishes for a full recovery.
While best known for the mentioned roles, he had a small but memorable role (along with the guy who played “Squiggy”) a really hilarious movie, “Used Cars.”
Prayers for him and his family.
Mark
I was just gonna mention Used Cars. One of my all-time favorite movies!
“If i can build and install a pacemaker in this man’s chest, i can damn well bounce a microwave off a satellite!”
Don’t forget his role as Martin tupper’s boss in “Dream on.”
He was great in one of my favorite X-Files episodes as well.
Yeah..i was hoping he would use Mulder’s body to ravish Scully ;)
Funniest movie ever!
